I advertised for an AZ winter rental on Craigslist. A lady contacted me with a nice vacation rental she had listed on the cozy.com site. The landlord had me pay the $40 fee to have my credit and background check directly to cozy.com. When I passed with flying colors, I expected to move on to the next level of renting. It took a few days for the landlord to reply to my emails. She wanted to have me do the same for my spouse. I declined. Hopefully, the scam was just to try and steal my $80, but I'm worried about future identity theft. Sure the renter was a scammer (probably an employee of Cozy), but Cozy Services Ltd. makes it too easy to bilk the potential renter and if they share my info. I'm a sitting duck for ID theft. Do not go through Cozy.com.
