Counterfeit Product - York Miller Reports & Reviews (2)

I ordered the men’s shirt jacket from York Miller and it became immediately clear that this is effectively a drop-ship operation selling low-quality clothing sourced from China while presenting itself online as a U.S.-based apparel brand. The website lists a U.S. address in Colorado and the aesthetic implies a domestic menswear company, but the product quality and return logistics tell a very different story.

The jacket I received was extremely low quality. The material is thin, scratchy, and feels more like a costume fabric than outerwear. The stitching quality is poor, with loose threads throughout, uneven seams, and loose button stitching that feels like it will come undone with minimal use. The sleeves are laughably short for a size Large, making the jacket unwearable for an average American man. For reference, I am 6'2" and 180 lbs, and the sleeves landed several inches above the wrist. The overall construction gives the impression of a garment worth less than ten dollars, yet it was being marketed at around one hundred dollars and discounted to around sixty. The value proposition is not there. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

The larger issue is the return process. The website does not disclose that returns must be shipped internationally to Germany at the customer’s expense. The return policy makes it appear to be a standard U.S. return process, and there is no mention of international shipping costs or EU warehouse locations. Only after requesting a return do they disclose that items must be shipped to Germany, which is expensive and completely undisclosed at checkout or in their FAQ.

After reading other reviews here and on Shop Pay, this appears to be a pattern: low-quality items, misrepresented return expectations, and customers being steered into partial refunds (20 percent, then 30 percent, sometimes 50 percent) instead of proper returns. This seems designed to discourage returns by making them cost-prohibitive.

Advice for anyone in the same position:

• Take screenshots of the product listing, return policy, FAQ, and listed U.S. address
• Keep a record of all emails and correspondence
• Decline partial refunds if the item is not as described
• Ask for a prepaid return label or a full refund
• If refused, file a PayPal dispute or a credit card chargeback (Visa, MasterCard, AmEx all support disputes for “merchandise not as described”)

PayPal disputes tend to resolve quickly. Credit card disputes take longer but can be won if you provide evidence of misrepresentation and undisclosed international return requirements.

In my opinion, a retailer that lists a U.S. return presence, markets itself as an American brand, but requires undisclosed returns to Germany and ships low-grade fast-fashion garments, is not being transparent with customers. I hope this review helps others avoid the same situation.

i ordered what i thought would be "mid-range" retro looking sunglasses, price-wise, i thought with a name like York Miller it may have come from some place in the States, or the U.K. or even somewhere here in Canada, well it turned out to be coming from China, via a courier and site i was completely unfamiliar with, and when i got them they were cheaply packaged, were of poor quality, didn't come with any accessories (e.g. lens wipe, adjustment tool, protective pouch/case, etc.). and if i returned them i'd have to pay for shipping back to China with no guarantee i would even get a refund. they LOOKED LIKE the glasses i ordered but are cheaply made, i could have ordered some from elsewhere or even went to a bargain store and gotten better quality glasses for $15-20.
