Wife and I are looking to purchase a used motorhome to enjoy retirement. We've looked at everything from Craigslist, to Facebook Market place. This [articular situation happened while perusing through inventory from a legitimate RV motorhome site. They seem have run an ad advertising the one they have for sale that was exactly what we were looking for (size, engine type, # of slide outs, and price,etc.).

The price lured us in as it was quite a bit below average, so the red flag went up and we proceeded with caution knowing likely is was a scam. Once you click on it you're told to email for additional information even though they had posted write a bit of details. So I did, I wrote and asked for more info and why you're selling it. We got a reply from the person whom supposedly is selling it. She explained that her husband had recently passed away and keeping it reminded her of to many memories.

She also stated, and I quote: "For the moment I am in a military base, I work for the U.S. Army Medical Department and soon our unit will be sent back overseas to replace and help the troops scheduled to come home. This is the reason why I left the vehicle stored with all the paperwork at the shipping company named Corfini Trucking (https://corfini-trucking.com/) in SEATTLE, WA ready to be delivered.

I signed a contract with them to take care of this sale on my behalf because I don't have time to sell it in person.

The motorhome is in their custody, ready for shipping and they will take care of everything. The deal includes free delivery and it will arrive at your address in 3-7 days, depending on the exact location. I want to use their escrow and transport services as they offer 100% protection and insurance to both buyers and sellers. Payment must be sent to an escrow account created in your name and they will offer you a 5 days inspection period from the day the vehicle arrives to your location. So, this is not a blind transaction, you can physically see the vehicle before committing to buy and to eliminate any concerns. In case you won't be satisfied, you can cancel the transaction and ship it back at my expense.

She began asking for deposits and monies to hold it. Needless to say, after a simple ScamPulse.com search for the "Trucking Company", surprise surprise, it didn't exist. So I though, I will call the shipping company just for giggles and now I wanted to expose them. Of course no one answered the call, but as soon as I hung up, I got a call back. I then end the process.

This bath & ½ all electric RV is approximately 44 feet in length with 4 slides, a 450HP Cummins engine, power mirrors with heat, GPS, 10KW generator with AGS on slide. I have a clear title, free of any liens or loans,VIN#-5VBBA87A2CA113974. The price is firm, $63,800. I am selling it because my husband died two months ago (Covid 19) and it brings me bad memories, so I want to sell it as soon as possible. Just let me know if you are interested and where you are located. Please contact me only if you have funds available and I will send you more pics. No loan accepted, I already lost two weeks for a previous buyer that his loan wasn't approved.
Thanks! Hope to hear from you soon!

I experienced the same scam. I was looking for a motorhome and came across this same thing... here's a copy of the email I received after inquiring about the motorhome.

We are pretty skeptical and cautious about anything on the internet. The website was very authentic. When we wanted to purchase the food truck we were given shipping order with a tracking number. The tracking number appeared functional when entering it in the website. But it was a sham. Before we ever intended to send a wire transfer, I wanted to see the food truck in person in Seattle. The place of business was CorfiniGourtmet, a food service business. The scam was identical to the victim in Bend OR who fortunately did not lose money. From the email received from the seller "Hello There,

Thank You for your interest in my 2000 Freightliner MT45 Food Truck that I have for sale. It is in perfect condition, with no need for any additional repairs. It has been cleared and certified by all agencies to operate in any state, LNI, health department, DOT.Fully Equipped.
