Continental AG Reports & Reviews (27)

Received a message through Upwork that I was identified for an interview via telegram messenger. Completed the interview and was offered the position. They then told me that I need to send back the form (W4) and that the job would show removed on Upwork due to they have already paid them for the full hire. I told them I need to check with Upwork as this is my first freelance position through Upwork. Haven't sent in the W4, but did answer the question if I wanted check, wire or direct deposit and the bank. They are saying it is US Based, but when I look it up, it is not US Based. So sad that people fall for this. They were offering $45 an hour. Here is the email sent through Upwork, who a recruiter friend of mine highly suggested. But they have broken every trust and safety rule.

I received a text to participate in an online interview process on 08/23. The next day, I received an offer letter but notice the inconsistencies with contact personnel on the site as well as the email extension. The company has US offices but I was not able to speak to anyone to verify this offer. Nor was I able to find any individuals affiliated with Linkedin. Ulrich Burrill was the hiring manager and contact who conducted the interview.

After researching the corporate website, I realized the end of the email should be .com and not via outlook. Also, the email did not have the same logo as the letter sent.

Another thing was they wanted to send me a check for me to purchase my own office equipment and software to perform my tasks. After investigating on the web, I realized that I should not be receiving a check to deposit into my bank account because it might be a possible fraud.

Therefore, the moral of this story is that one should only respond to legitimate employers to who you have previously reached out by completing the application process. A recruiter should have a contact number for follow-up and an app or an email.

Please send an alert to others regarding this scam for them to avoid.

I just had an “INTERVIEW” as what he says. Via telegram app, and what as the others complaints, is same as mine. Theyre saying that they will send a check for me to buy new software materials to start the job.

I received four text messages from four different persons each hiring for their own company. One of them was Dr. Geoffrey Clinton from Continental AG. He set up an interview with a Carolyn Berman, Hiring Manager, which turned out to be a message/chat on Zoom. Her email was [email protected]. I spent 2.5 hours with her, but something felt fishy. She almost said word for word what some of the other victims had said. (I am attaching screen shots.) She played it cool just asking for personal information that you could already get off the internet, but told me to contact her at 8:00 am Monday morning to go over the offer letter. I’m sure that was when she/he was going to try to get me to give them my social security and banking information, which I never would do like that. There were other people representing companies such as Frank Lynn for Bourguess Batiment International, Shirley Brown for Philips Company, Jackson Hans for HCL Texhnologies who also used the name

I was online filling out applications for remote jobs and was contacted by this “company”. Unfortunately I fell for the scam and ended up giving them my ssn and pictures of my ID. They seemed so legit. Until it took them 4 hours to do a “verification”, when they told me it would take 15 minutes. They also wanted me to do a recorded video for the verification process, when I told them that I was having dinner with my family the man got very demanding and mean. He contacted me with the name of Peterson Fish. I should’ve known just from the name. I blocked him on the app, deleted my account that they were doing the verification from and the man started to call my phone. My cousin picked up and told him we knew it was a scam and to get rid of my number before we contacted police.

Was contacted via text about a remote position available with Continental AG Company. I've run into this before and it was cookie cutter. Google hangout interview that was supposed to be text only. I said I was more comfortable with a video chat, and sent a quote from the ScamPulse.com describing exactly what they had done (sent via text, very immediate responses) and was instantly blocked by the "interviewer."

- Littleton, CO, USA

This person contacted me saying they’d reviewed my resumé and I had been shortlisted and would need to interview through Telegram. Upon further research I found this is a scam by people posing as a real company. They used the name James Daches.

I'm in the middle of an "interview" now... With Berry Gates for a data entry job for $28...

I posted my resume for a job for data entry and proofreading on an official job site was contacted by a man saying he was with continental ag after a lengthy interview he says I have the job and there going to mail me a check this is my second time being interviewd by scares the first was with a person claiming to be from Comcast for a at home job they asked for my bank account username and password I told them to go get bent.. please be careful ppl the comcast guy even had a photo badge from the company and evrything

I received an email from "Michael Crouch" from Continental AG. I had sent a proposal in on Upwork to their job ad regarding a proofreader. The conversation between us is below. He didn't ask for any money from me. Oh, and he removed his message on Upwork so I couldn't reply to him about me not being interested. People never cease to amaze me on how stupid they really are!

I currently work as an IC for my own company. I am in EST time zone. I would prefer to work either morning/daytime, or late afternoon/evening shifts. I would be available to work additional shifts. I am proficient in Word and Excel. I can work a minimum of 15 hrs. weekly. I am available to start immediately. I DO consider myself a team player. Difficult team members are not so difficult, once you learn how to let things "roll off your back." Diversity in personalities is what makes us stronger and be able to look at the BIG picture. :) Owning my own business for 30 years. Proofreading as I go, and rechecking at the end of the projects. My greatest strength is being a leader and making difficult decisions on my own. My greatest weakness is being a workaholic and not taking out enough me-time. :( My career goal is to find work/life balance and be able to change careers, doing something that is more interesting and challenging. I have had to maintain HIPAA privacy act throughout the years of my medical career. Code of conduct is also something I have had to ensure I maintain on a daily basis, as a business owner, with my clients. I have a printer, copier, and scanner. Twigby is my mobile provider, prepaid, with unlimited text, talk, and media. Direct deposit, please! :) I do have a credit card or two. Either weekly or bi-weekly is good for me. Wells Fargo is my bank.

Pam Williams
In reply to this message
This position is probably not going to work for me, then. Going from a desktop to a laptop will slow my work production down to a bare minimum...I used a laptop as a power source for years and connected my monitor and keyboard to it...worked great!
15:15
I also will remain ergonomically correct using my own keyboard and monitor, which significantly decreases injuries to the entire body...just sayin'.
MC
15:16
Michael Crouch
You can connect your wireless keyboard to the laptop
15:16
It will make more sense
PW
15:17
Pam Williams
Oh, you said earlier, "No, you can't." :( Thanks for changing your mind on this for me...it will make such huge difference! :)
15:19
Okay, if I am terminated or quit for some unknown reason, will I need to pay Continental AG back for this equipment, or just ship it back to you guys?

No you won’t

Ok...thank you!

The funds for the working items is provided by the company's clients and you will be referred to a trusted vendor for the purchase of these items.. Understood ?

15:21
Pam Williams
Yes, how long does this take?
MC

What an i[censored]! LOL

This is another remote scam job. They will tell you they find your resume in careerbuilder and they use USA number but they are in Africa. Check my screenshots how i talked to him till we even end up video chat ?. He is asking for 50$ and he claim his mom is sick. Be careful please look for a job that you know their address. Not a job that will ask you to go to telegram and even saying it will not be by phone or video interview but text messages.

+1

Same guy done mine so funny this is the 2nd scam interview iv had the first one was saying they were comcast company and they even wanted me to give them my username and password for my bank account I said [censored] off they even had a phone of a bag of a manager from that company

I believe i have just been scammed myself. I was online through Clickearners.com looking for a bee job and i get this message from a JOHN HONAN. We start discussing and i get an interview through Telegram. I thought it was odd but i went with it and i "Got the Job." "He" sent me a check for 1850 dollars. I went to go deposit it and a few days afterwards it got returned. I told him and said that he was gonna reimburse me for it. Now I'm about $3000 in the hole and just received another check from him for about 7900 dollars. I'm about to call the bank that "He" sent it fton to see if it's legit. If not I'm notifying the police and i have the whole conversation saved plus his info. I'm mad because i was really looking forward to making more money but i should've known it was too good to be true. Plus i should've looked it up sooner.

+2

hey guys i was scammed as well company Ag hired me as customer services send me contract and company deposit 7,120,00 on my bank i was happy but then the chase bank closed my bank and i cant get my money back until someone from Continental does goes with me and shows proof i work and they deposit in my account. i dont know what to do or get a lawyer first time i do this they should give me break and give my money and return the other funds not mine.

These photos are proof of the story. The email. His number on the app which I saved under as M and a few messages I have screenshots of. The person actually ended blocking me once I told him I was reporting him to the police.

I was applying for jobs online for data entry positions. About a half an hour later I got a text message posing to be a guy named “Mr Richard” saying that my resume as been picked out from the many others for a online interview. I didn’t have anything to lose so I went for it. This person said I would be talking to a guy named “Mr Michael Joseph” on the app telegram. I was kind of suspicious as I found out it was going to be a chat to chat text interview. I told myself it could be a scam so if I see more reds flags that could be my possibility. So I have a online interview with “Mr Michael Joseph“ for 40 minutes, he posed he was the hiring Manager of Continental AG with lots of information about the company and how I work be working from home and how they would pay for companies supplies. Answer answering some basic interview questions he had me wait 30 mins to see if I was approved for the job he also said I would be making $40 an hour. Within the 30 mins I called Continental Ag and explained the whole thing to a kind women she said there company policies do not work like that, they don’t even work from home & also explained MANY people have had the same situation happen and they had major problems with the bank. And I also found this form to confirm it was a complete scam. And then I receive a message I got the job. Since they wasted my time a along with other innocent people who were looking for jobs I decided to mess with them to give proof on this situation. I played along and they said I needed supplies for training. I asked multiple questions like “since the interview is over why am I not getting the standard phone for acceptance” they gave excuse after excuse. They sent me a fake electronic fake with instructions. Print it out, cut it in the shape of a check and deposit it. I said multiple times i did not receive the email to send it with another email so I have his personal email address. These are big time scammers don’t be fooled if it’s too good to be true trust me it is! Don’t send out any of your personal information without seeing someone face to face. Hope my story helped you guys. I will put up some pictures for proof. Note the telegram I saved under M because the number needed to be in your contacts to text someone on the app.

+5

This was very helpful because I was almost scammed by them as well. I knew something was up when they said that they would send me a check to purchase the equipment. Most companies will provide the equipment for you and you don't have to purchase anything. My question to you is how did you keep them from contacting you? I reported them to the local BBB.

I work on Upwork as a freelancer. I applied for a Proofreader job and was contacted by Jawana. She connected me to an interview on Telegram with Michael Joseph. After a long chat-interview they said I was hired. The person seemed so real and genuine. IT WAS A SCAM. They sent me an e-check to deposit and then use to purchase the necessary software. I told my family after the check was deposited and they said it was definitely a scam. I immediately called the fraud line for my bank and they helped me set a claim. THEY HAVE SEEN SIMILAR STUFF BEFORE. I attached part of the conversation.
If it seems too good to be true, it usually is

I talk to same man Michael joeseph wow thes epeole have no remorse I'm take my check to Walmart lol

We communicated through the messaging app Telegram about an interview and a "job offer.". The offer was for a remote position with a company supposedly called Continental AG. (though I can find no such company in WI) The position was for a content editor and stated that I would need specific software to perform the job. They sent a fraudulent electronic check for $3,950 for the purchase of the software. I did not deposit the check because I called the bank on the check and they informed me that the account was closed and the check was fraudulent.

They just tried a similar scam on my daughter, who freelances on freelancer.com. The person said they were Michael Joseph with Continental AG, which is a legit name for that company, so she started the discussion, but once he mentioned an echeck and turning around and giving the money to a shipper, we knew it was bunk. Thank you to everyone here for posting your experiences. It helped us confirm our suspicions.

OMG! i know this was posted a few months back, but i had just went through a VERY AWFUL SCAM with continental AG! i was totally SCAMMED by them too! they contacted me through UPWORK about a month ago about a job as a DATA ENTRY WORKER, & they told me to download an app on my phone called "telegram" (which i found out is a LOUSY piece of crap app), & speak to a lady on there named "JANIS WHITE" who is the supposed "HR MANAGER" of continental AG... well i.looked up continental AGs website & it did look VERY LEGIT to me... so i went ahead & got started... first they wanted to send me a check for office supplies including a new windows desktop PC & software for the job (because i only have a laptop & NOT a desktop PC anymore), & so i had DEPOSITED the check to my checking account... it took my bank a SEVERAL DAYS to process it (i guess because of the current pandemic going on), & after it finally did process, i was then TOLD BY THE "HR MANAGER" to go transfer the $$ from the check to the VENDORS for my office supplies by using "BITCOIN", (which i had NEVER used in my life & i was VERY HONEST about that to ms. white & that i was VERY APPREHENSIVE about doing any of the bitcoin stuff, but she told me "it is FINE, just follow my directions, yada-yada-yada", & i did EXACTLY as she told me to... well a few days later, i found out MY BANK ACCOUNT GOT CLOSED BECAUSE OF SUPPOSED FRAUD! so supposedly that "check" that continental AG sent me WAS FRAUD! but the problem is, because i did the transfers to bitcoin, now i have to PAY BACK THE BANK! i am in a REAL MESS & I DONT KNOW HOW TO GET OUT OF IT!

that is why i am trying to find ANYBODY ELSE who might have been scammed/almost scammed by continental AG too just like us... i want to possibly BUILD A CASE AGAINST THOSE SCAMMERS! so may i ask... would you like to help me with this? if you want to that is... if you do not wish to, I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND... i just want to find sonebody else who had been through what i have and can help me build a solid case about them to the courts, or the BBB or something!

i am very sorry for the very long post. thank you for taking the time to read it, and hopefully i will hear from you if you are interested in helping me get these scammers... if not, i do hope that everything will go great for you & i wish you all the best. thank you so much & have a GREAT day! ?

They just tried to do the same to me using telegram as well. However I’m a very skeptical individual and decided to question them moving forward and doing the research and I’m so sorry you got scammed . I do appreciate that you shared this story however, you are helping other people not go through the same pain. If I paid them the 300$ they asked for the time clock program via cash app I wouldn’t have my child support money and would go to jail and not be able to see my baby girl.

They trying to send Me a check via fedex and ups and a start up check . I feel it’s a scam

I have received a similar offer. They said they’d pay for everything and will send me a check in the mail .

So I applied to a freelancer job on Upwork.com. I got a message on their platform saying they'd like to interview me. Went through the interview process, which was grueling by the way. (Ireally hate wasting my time and energy)

Then this guy asks me who i bank through!!

ugh

So, his name as in the whats app is Jeremy Francois. ***scammer

I contacted Brian *** over two days via gmail hangout. It was clear from the communication that the job posting was not legitimate. There were several grammatical errors and I could not obtain any information or contact info for HR. On the second day *** emailed me a check to deposit into my account. Here is that email:

I contacted that company that is listed on the check and forwarded the email to their fraud department. Additionally I contacted my bank and forwarded the email with the attached check. I made an attempt to alert someone at Continental AG but I was unable to get beyond an unhelpful customer service rep.
