Type of a scam Investment
I purchased a coffee vending machine package from Coffee Vending Business in May 2025, paying $6,250 for what was advertised. This included the vending machine, professional location placement in a high-traffic area, 2 years warranty, relocation if assigned location is not profitable and ongoing support.
My primary point of contact was John, Lazaro who communicated via phone and text from (516) 902-4352. After the payment was processed, I was provided with two proposed locations.
John did not assign me the location that I picked. When I voiced my concern he ignores me and barely answers my phone calls or my email. I called the company multiple times without any response.
No solution was ever provided, and my follow-ups were largely ignored.
As of today, I am out $6,250, with no machine placed, no legitimate location secured, and no satisfactory response from the company. This experience appears to be deceptive and predatory, and I am reporting it in the hopes of warning others and prompting an investigation. I am also seeking a full refund.
What made it seem legit was that it was listed on a well-known site, and Better Business Bureau shows Franchise Direct with an A+ rating.
What they promised:
• Coffee vending machine business
• A secured, high-traffic location already arranged
• Reliable income
What actually happened:
• The location was fake
• No placement was ever secured
• Seller stopped responding after payment
• Phone number disconnected (516-902-4352). Same number as the one your reported.
• Website (https://www.javaspotcoffee.com) taken down
After digging, I found multiple people describing the exact same setup, going back years under different names. This isn’t new; it’s just rebranded over and over.
I contacted Franchise Direct on Feb 10, 2026 asking them to investigate, but I still have not received any meaningful response from them about the situation. It was not until 4/18/2026, the listing was removed, after a complaint against Franchise Direct with BBB was filed.
Important:
If you found this through a platform like Franchise Direct or BusinessesForSale.com, don’t just report the scam, contact the platform and ask them to investigate. If no result then file a complaint about the listing and lack of oversight with the Better Business Bureau.
These scams rely on being hosted on sites that look credible. If nobody reports the platform, the listings stay up and more people get hit.
I noticed “Coffee Vending” listings across 51 regions on BusinessesForSale.com, so be careful—this is still active.
If you’ve sent money, contact your bank’s fraud department immediately and clearly state: “I am a victim of a wire fraud scheme. I need to file a fraud claim and request a wire recall”. Acting quickly can improve the chances of recovering your funds.
Don’t stop there. Also file reports with:
• Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3)
• Federal Trade Commission
• State Attorney General’s Office
My primary point of contact was John, who communicated via phone and text from (516) 902-4352. After the payment was processed, I was provided with two proposed locations. Upon inspection, both locations were unsuitable—one lacked the physical space to house the machine, and the other posed serious safety concerns due to local conditions. Additionally, neither location offered the foot traffic needed to generate meaningful income.
I raised these concerns respectfully via email and text, requesting alternative placements. Over the course of several months, I received repeated messages stating they were “still waiting” for updates. No solution was ever provided, and my follow-ups were largely ignored. Eventually, John informed me that “redoing” the job would cost more, even though the original service was never properly delivered.
As of today, I am out $6,250, with no machine placed, no legitimate location secured, and no satisfactory response from the company. This experience appears to be deceptive and predatory, and I am reporting it in the hopes of warning others and prompting an investigation. I am also seeking a full refund.
