I received a fb message from my grandmas account telling me she received $150000 and saw my name on the winning list. I asked a question to find out if it was indeed my grandma and got the wrong answer and further pressure to contact an agent to claim my money.

I received a friend request to have a current friend of mine follow me on Instagram. I didn't think anything of it because not all of my friends on Facebook follow me on IG and the same with me and them. So I figured he ran into my profile and decided to follow me on IG in addition to FB. He sent me a message asking how I was not too long after I accepted the "Follow" request. His grammar was off and he started "inquiring" if I heard of the CFDA Grant. I said no, what is it? He continued to explain the program but his grammar and verbage was just "off" for this friend that I have seen his posts and is educated and I know can tell the difference of using "I'm" and "Am". I asked why he would think that I would qualify for this grant? And the reason why I ask is because he's a married gay man so I figured the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance program was set up for legally lgbt community people because of the word Domestic, which I am not. He replied because it's free money and I can use it any way I want. I asked him to message me on FB but he said no. I knew there was something fishy. I messaged my friend on FB and let the person using his exact same profile on IG that I think he's running a scam and I messaged my REAL friend on FB and I was reporting his profile as SPAM.

Contacted via Facebook about money I won from Government. All I had to do was purchase a moneygram for $750 and call & give them number. Then in 12 hours UPS will deliver me a cashiers check for $50,000. I sent them the $750 & expect my $50,000 in about 4 hours.

- Indianapolis, IN, USA

I was contacted by my instant messenger online saying my name was on a list to receive a government grant of 50,000.00

Today I received a suspicious message from one of my close friends via Facebook messenger. The message stated that she had recently collected a grant from the Community for Federal Domestic Assistance. In order to claim the grant, all she had to do was send in $3,000 dollars. The message also mentioned that it would be handled by an agent named 'Angela Danice'. After I sent in the $3,000, I would then supposedly receive $20,000 cash in the mail. Assuming this was far too good to be true, I contacted my local ScamPulse.com and confirmed the attempt was a scam. I promptly called my friend and told her to reset her passwords on social media as her account had been compromised. I'm just grateful I caught onto this attempt before it was too late!

- Danville, IL, USA

I was contacted through Facebook messaging about my name being on a grant list from CFDA. When I asked what CFDA was, I was informed that it was the Community Federal Domestic Assistance. Throughout the conversation I was instructed to text an agent about my "winnings". The number given to to me was (865) 257-9224. Upon researching the group name and phone number, I noticed multiple scams in the past. The user that contacted me was a Lester Michelle Lee on Facebook.
