A friend told me about a guy on Snapchat who sells jewelry and other things and will ship it to you. I contacted the guy and wanted to purchase a gold chain. We talked for about 30 mins, then it came down to paying. He said he uses cashapp and bitcoin, so I went with cashapp because I use it. He told me to screenshot the payments, before and after I sent the money. I eventually made the purchase and he said he was “going to ship it” that night and the package would be at my home in 24 hours. He gave me the “tracking information” which was the cargo postals. I researched a lot about them and they don’t look very credible. I couldn’t even track my package to begin with. I made the purchase yesterday (1/24/2021) at around 9pm. He said it would arrive the same time 24 hours later. (1/25/2021) When it came about time for the package to arrive, he told me the “agency” (in his words) sent me an email. CargoPostals.com is the agency he’s referring to. When I opened the email they told me my “package lacks the $250 clearance fee which is refundable” They told me to get it paid ASAP. I messaged the guy and told him none of this seems legit, which it didn’t. The emails in particular are what seemed the most unprofessional, from the way it was worded to simple punctuation. I didn’t pay the $250 “fee” because I already payed $350 for the product to the seller. The seller also asked if I could pay him the $250 so he can pay the agency. Then apparently I could get my money back from the agency. I think it’s all an elaborate scam run by him and most likely many others. I told him I wasn’t paying another dime for anything until I saw any kind of proof of where my package was. Sorry this was so long I just don’t want others to fall victim to this.
