Canada Revenue Agency Reports & Reviews (65)

It was just a voice recording to call that number back stating that there is tax fraud being reported on me. And that it's a time sensitive issue

Aggressive recording stating that an officer is calling me from the CRA as I have failed to pay my taxes and they are beginning legal proceedings.

I'm supposed to return their call to stop legal proceedings, but my taxes are all paid up.

Received a call on April 16 at 1:44 p.m. from "Officer James Morrison". It was a recorded message. He had an accent so it was hard to understand but the message said he needed to hear from me or my attorney right away or he would have no choice but to...(not exactly sure what he said here as it was hard for me to understand, but I have no doubt it was threatening and intended to make me fearful and contact him).

I was contacted by this number but I couldn’t pick up at the time. About a week later i check my voicemail and they said that there is a case opened on my name and threatened me if I wouldn’t show up to court they would arrest me. After me googling this number many people said it was a scam. Just to clarify I wasn’t scammed for any money. I just don’t want this to happen to the next person.

Left a voicemail claiming to be Canada Revenue Agency saying "urgent, do not ignore this message" When I called and said this isn't the number listed on the government of Canada's website they hung up.

Several members of my family received calls from this scammer claiming we were being investigated by the cra for tax evasion. The number they called from was provided by a company called iristel!

I received two identical emails fro the Canada Revenue Agency as follows:

Canada Revenue Agency

They provided a link in the email to put in your bank account information......this was a scam phishing for personal bank data.....

I have received many calls from the same scammer from different phone numbers. It is always an automated voice messaged claiming to represent the Canadian Revenue Agency (CRA) and that this is their last attempt to contact me, and that I must speak to a federal agent immediately. I always block the number as soon as I get the call but they seem to have an endless supply of phone numbers to call from.

several calls progressively more intimidating each call, threats of jail, issuing of arrest warrants... no contact from me.

They told me the CRA is taking legal action against me for back taxes and are going to put a lien on my house. This is untrue

Phone call is automated and threatens lawsuit and legal action unless a callback is made

Got two separate calls. One on Jan 4th 2018 from an Ajax number (+1 289 608 8818) and another Jan 9th 2018 from a Manitoba number (+1 204 817 1322). Received automated voicemail claiming to be CRA, saying there is a lawsuit being filed against me. The message did not provide my name specifically. All it stated was that I would be reported to the police if I don't call in to (204) 817-1322.

This is clearly an identity/information seeking scam. Do not return this call and do not provide any information whatsoever. This is not the way CRA operates.

Two missed incoming phone calls received to my personal phone, no voicemail left. Phone call was returned to listed number, upon which threats were made regarding an "affidavit" summoning me to court. No affidavit was received in the mail from the institution in question, but the individual on the other end of the line used fear and intimidation to coerce responses and personal information, suggesting to "call a criminal lawyer, or there will be a warrant out for your arrest". I gave them my social insurance number, birthday, name, phone number and address before figuring out that it was a scam; I then promptly hung up the phone and called the institution in question, who then directed me to do some damage control.

I receive phone call that I am processed with the court for not paying a tax return. I asked why, because I am doing my tax with the professional agency for so many years and never have any problem. I did not get any answer ether, so I tell the guy that I am going ride away to that agency to talk and I will get back to him. Instead of the going to the Tax-return office I went to the Police Station, where I was told that is the scam. The man with whom I was talking about that processes in the court by the telephone was telling me that if I do not pay $4000 I will by home arrested for 1 year and I will loose something else but I did not understand what because the man was speaking with the east accent.

Text just says Canada Revenue Agency has sent your income tax via INTERAC (E-TRANSFER). Confirm here www.agency-interac.gq for a safe deposit. It's oct 31st and income tax was received back in march/april. Obviously didn't fall for it, but tired of people being able to even attempt the scam. As far as I'm aware they should be found and hacked and locked from any form of technology use. This persons phone number if it is their actual phone number should be charged and removed from the scammers hands. I doubt anything will come of this, because scammers seem to get away with it more than they get in trouble. But might as well try.

Received phone call, on the line was a recording , the recording told it was Jason calling, from Canada Revenue Agency and that unless I co-operated the police would be arriving shortly to arrest me, it requested that I stay on line. I hung the phone up copied down the number I waited about 15 minutes, then I called back once I got the same message, so I hung the phone up. About 20 minutes later I received a call, this time it was a live person, said his name was Jason, and he was from the CRA, That I owed taxes, and in order to not be arrested I needed to comply, I told the person not to call again, he immediately got aggravated, and told the police would be arriving shortly to arrest me, I then hung the phone up

Sept. 19, 2017 I received a telephone message left by a female voice, stating that I was being investigated for tax fraud and that in the next 24 hours there could be an arrest made if I did not respond to this message immediately. Although I was shocked by this message, I feel that if this message were genuine I would have received information in the mail on proper CRA letterhead. The phone number I was told to respond to is: 1-613-416-8520. I have not responded to this number.

Sept. 6, 2017 @ 12:33pm Man speaking with eastern European/Russian accent, with what sounds like road noise inside a vehicle.

Quote: "This is extremely time sensitive. My name is Officer Craig Williams and the hotline to my division is 7809007864 (repeats).

Now, don't try to ignore this message and don't return this call; if I don't hear from your attorney either, all I can do is wish you good luck. Goodbye and take care."

Phone call indicated there was legal action pending against me by the CRA.
