I had applied for a Administrative (ability to work from home) position online. Yesterday the hiring manager by the name of Carol Moore had reached out to me from my inquiry and said that she was going to conduct my online assessment interview, which if passed another interview will be scheduled. She asked if we can conduct the online interview on Goggle Hangouts as it would be easier. Questions were asked and after the assessment was completed she advised that she was going to pass my answers and the message thread to management and I will be getting a response on my progress shortly. After a half hour passed she informed me that after full consideration with the answers I provided during the assessment interview, I have just been confirmed qualified for this position. They would like to offer me the job position where I am now given a chance to show my commitment, charisma, diligence and be a productive employee. I was completely thrown off. Especially because it sounded too good to be true. But thought “let’s see.” I accepted and she continued to talk about the benefit plans and advised that I would be eligible for benefits after 60 days of employment. She then informed that I will be undergoing a (1) one week training and orientation which will commence as soon as I have all working materials and rest assured that I will be paid for it. I will be getting my paperwork and HR document during my orientation and training from my supervisor once I have all my working materials ready. I am to fill, sign and send back to them before my start date of 2/9. I responded saying I look forward to receive the paperwork from HR. She went ahead and informed me of the software and equipment that would be needed in order to work from home when needed, and advised that I will be provided a electronic check to purchase my home supplies/equipment. I was very hesitant at this point. I started to ask to speak to someone in charge. She said she will have someone come online to chat with me. I refused and said I prefer to speak to someone on the phone. By this time I had looked up the company and called the numbers I found online. They were either disconnected or received an automated answering system. I looked up Carol Moore and found a LinkedIn account as well as other job positions she had online. When the person I was chatting with knew I was getting reluctant she asked if I doubted the position. I responded saying that I doubted how things are being handled. She then said that if I doubted the position then I can kindly pass, but I had so much charisma and seemed interested in the position and really wanted to work, so why am I acting difficult all of a sudden? I responded saying with Brocade being such a well established company I would believe there would be protocol as how things are handled once someone is hired, so forgive me but I don’t see how that is being difficult. I asked again for someone in charge to contact me. She then ignored my question and said my position acceptance letter has been emailed to me and to please review, print, sign and send back. When I opened up my email I saw an email from Carol Moore which had the acceptance letter, however her email was from a gmail account. As I was reviewing the offer letter, I saw they were a ScamPulse.com rating A+ Accredited Business. As I was looking up the company on ScamPulse.com I received another message that a check has been emailed to me and I will need to deposit the check as soon as possible so the funds will be available within 24hrs. I responded saying I would gladly deposit the check once I speak to someone in charge and have all my new hire paperwork completed. The demeanor completely changed after that. She became more pushy and I realized I wasn’t going to get anywhere with her. So I just responded saying if you want me to deposit this check please have someone contact me by phone. I will need to have all documentation in hand and completed before this check is deposited. No response, until an hour and half later asking if the check has been deposited. I just blocked them from hangouts and decided to report this scam. BE CAREFUL with these job postings! They really took their time in creating fake accounts/websites and even correspondence to make it seem like the position is real. If it’s too good to be true.. then it most likely is not true.
