Hacked into a well known influencial Linked In Health Care person's account and she endorsed a mystery shopper opportunity to earn up to $450/mystery shopper. I signed up with my name email, address, and phone number. I received an email (that went to my spam folder), a text message that said "Hello, A check of $2,950 for your first retail survey task has been delivered to your address via USPS. Have emailed you with instructions on how to carry out your survey. (Kindly check both your inbox and junk). Also confirm you got email and text, Thank you. Ronald Harley" I did receive a check in the mail that did not have a business name except BB&T on it and in the memo/purchase said Joseph Barra in it and at the top said "OFFICIAL CHECK" Issuing branch is 2546805-HOWARD CNTY - MAPLE LAWN date February 28, 2019 and at the very top it states "to verify authenticity, see reverse side for description of the 11 security features." The letter that was sent via email states in the subject line "First Retail Survey Assignment!" In the body it reads:

Good Morning,

A check of 2,950 will be delivered to your address today or tomorrow via the postal service for your first retail survey assignment. Kindly deposit the check once you receive it (IT WILL CLEAR WITHIN 24HOURS OF DEPOSIT). I have attached to this email instructions on how to carry out your survey tasks, Kindly read the attached instructions and get back to me. Thank you.

There is an attachment that

Email states there is irregular activity on my account and instructs me to click on link to login and verify my credentials. I also refers me to call 888-228-6654 with any concerns. When calling that number get recorded instructions to enter my FEIN, social security number and account numbers as well as any debit or atm card numbers. Unable to connect to anyone to discus what this is in regards to as I don't have an account with BB&T.

Scam involves an email being sent saying your "BB&T" bank account being locked out. The email is very short and simple with a clickable link that says click here to resolve. You click it and you're redirected to a "BB&T" login page. Don't know what happens after. I don't bank with BB&T but have gotten this email several times.
