BBB Imposter Scam - Refund by Bitcoin Reports & Reviews (1)

- Longview, TX, USA

I called my online college to report issues with my microsoft since they are the ones to provide free Microsoft office 365. A girl that was supposedly with college told me to call a number provided for help. She gave me the number. My school handles all technical issues so i thought that it was odd to tell me to call an outside source. I call the number no one answered. I get a call back from a man claiming to be Microsoft tech support. He proceeded to tell me my Microsoft was crashed and they would refund me $199.00 i state it's through my college so they will need to refund it to the college he states that they need my information since I am the student. I was to fill out a form with my name, address, email and bank name and refund amount. Upon reviewing the information I proceeded and entered the following information. The guy told me I entered $19,999.00 by mistake that the refund money comes from the BBB better bussiness bureau & that he handles the wiring so now that I mistakenly did that I would need to wire the money back. Upon downloading software as he suggested I then log into what I thought was my bank account showing a depost from the BBB in the amount of 19,999 applied to my account. I then check my online banking from my phone and it was not accurate to what showed on my computer. I then call my sister into the room to explain the situation while i hung up on the guy. He calls me back and says he heard everything I said to her and was to keep it confidential since it was the BBB's money and they want to make sure I dont spend it. He then states he can report me for wire fraud so I better continue. I proceeded to more instructions and he takes me to a website with bitcoin. I then question and he states yes, BBB only deals with bitcoin. I then hang up and go to my bank. I closed my account. Reported to police station. Police said this is ongoing scam. Scammers had access to my computer and information. I now have to buy a new computer due to the tapping on my computer. I also informed my college who then contacted the cyber attack team. The scammers are still emailing me stating they downloaded software on my computer and its been resolved

They are harassing me on email and phone. Another number they called from was 18002850798
