I was approached about a potential job offer via text. I gave them my email address and then connected with the "hiring manager" via zoom chat. An entire hour long interview took place. The next day I was offered a job. I filled out a W4 with my personal information on it, and they said a check would arrive to my home in order to purchase a new computer and office equipment. They ended up sending two checks for over $4600 each. I called the issuing bank to verify authenticity and they verified that they checks were fraudulent. I have since frozen my credit and placed fraud alerts.
