AWG Home Warranty Division Reports & Reviews (31)

I received a pink letter in the mail yesterday, from AWG Home Warranty Division, that stated my Home Warranty was about or has expired. I have lived in this house for over 15 years and from day one have never had a Home Warranty. After looking them up on the internet I saw a couple of different telephone numbers and it seems the one on my bright pink letter is a new one. 855-582-2770. Scam, how can something expire that you have never had!!!

Envelope states "Personal & Confidential - Open Inmediately." Pink letter states home warranty (never existed) secured by Bank (out of business since 2009) expiring. No return address. 855-559-7948 number answered by rude, high-pressure rep who tried to get me to disclose personal information to sell bogus home warranty. Called back to get additional info that this company AWG is actually Aegis, in business 3 years, many complaints of illegal sales tactics and false billing. Scam!

My elderly father received a very threatening sounding piece of mail, on pink paper, with no return address on the envelope. Inside it contained alarming language such as "immediate response requested" and stating that your "home warranty may be expiring or may have already expired", that you should call their number immediately because you "may be at risk of being financially liable for any and all repairs" and that they reserve the right to REVOKE your eligibility for service coverage after 5 days. "Urgent and Time sensitive", etc. It really had him scared. My mother thinks it is a scam, and I don't know if it is or not, but their scare tactics seem designed to trick people into forking over their money without understanding exactly what is going on.

I received a call from my 83-year-old father that he had received something alarming in the mail. I am simply going to paste someone else's account from 2017 (that's right, 2017, because they are still doing this) below. It describes our experience exactly.

I believe that false advertising is illegal. I received "Immediate Response Request" mailing. Their first sentence "This letter is to inform you that the PROPERTY'S WARRANTY SECURED BY ARVEST BK, is getting ready to expire or may have already expired" This is A LIE/FALSE ADVERTISING - I've never had a property warranty with Arvest. They don't even offer this service. Then AWG uses verbiage "you are at risk of being financially liable" and "you may still have time left to activate a service contract on your home before it's too late" Many of *** *** residents are retired seniors and this type of scare tactic message is completely inappropriate for them and anyone else. Their return address says only AWG Home Warranty Division - no listing under this name. . I had to call them and inquire of their name "Aegis Home Warranty Group" so I could send this complaint.

The employees of this company look up public deed records and target the elderly with these meritless scare tactics. They do not have any association with the company that their elderly targets do business with.

My 80 yr mother received a letter from AWG, stating her property's home warranty expired or will be expiring. I called our home owners insurance and this was not true. I called the phone number on the paper and they tried to sell me insurance for appliances. The letter came without a return address, and a bright pink letter with capital letters stating IMMEDIATE RESPONSE REQUESTED. I an concerned that these people have our property tax ID number.I called them and had them take us off there calling and mailing list. They should not be permitted to scare the elderly.

Received a postcard regarding home warranty from AWG with no address. The postcard was sent Presorted First Class Mail sent from St. Louis MO with Permit # 5283. The post card urges me to call *** by 7/18/18 before I loose the service I do not currently have.

I received a salmon-colored post card from AWG Home Warranty Division, stating the home warranty for our address was, or was about to expire and the individual should call immediately, so costs to repair the home will not be incurred. The problem with this offer was that it was addressed to a DECEASED person. This person passed away in 2011.

Where did they get her name? She has never lived at this address.

How did they get this address from our lender?

Your help is greatly appreciated, so people will not fall for this and pay.

Thank you!

I received a post card in the mail about a month ago feel is a scam. Company name AWG Home Warranty Division. The post card did not have an address. Post card stated property warranty on my home was about to expire. Without a home warranty I would be liable for all repairs. I called the phone number on the post card. 855-634-0483. Charging $3400 for a three year warranty. Would replace all appliances. Sounded too good to be true. They knew the age of my home. I feel they are after elderly people.

I received a postcard in the mail for a home warranty service. When I called the phone number on card, I was told to purchase a pre-paid VISA card for $495.00. I was also told I could get a card for $295.00. When I  questioned  about getting an Invoice, he was told it was not necessary.

It's a way to make you think your home warranty is going to expire. I never had one in the first place, so I called cphone number on pink post card and said I needed to make a claim. They passed me around and left me on hold - no offer for a claims department.

Pink postcard received in mail. Addressed to my deceased mother at my address. My mother has been deceased for 12 years and has never lived at this address or owned this home. Postcard says that my mother, who is listed as the homeowner at this address, has a mortgage from a local bank and that the homeowner's warranty "is getting ready to expire or may have already expired." Card states that "by neglecting to obtain coverage you are at risk of being financially liable for all and any repairs." Card provides a phone number to call to request coverage. I called the phone number and told the sales person that we have no warranty on the home and asked them about the expiration of the so-called warranty, I told them that the person on the card was deceased and had never lived here or owned this house. They said they got the name from some list. The card listed American Trust and Savings Bank, Dubuque, IA, as the securing bank. I went to the bank and they assured me that they had not provided the name of my mother. They thought the information may have been from a Credit Report mailing list.
