ATT Internet Backup imposter Reports & Reviews (1)

A person claiming to be from AT&T called my business and asked a few questions about our needs for the company. Being an admin. person, I take a lot of these calls regarding companies wanting to sell us services. I answered their questions; I believe one question was something like "Would you like to access the internet during a power outage?". At the end of the call, the person quickly thanked me for my order, and said your backup device will be shipped shortly and hung up before I could say anything. I had no way of contacting them back to say that I did not order anything, until I received an email the next week, which stated that my order was already shipped via fed ex. I immediately called the 800 number to tell them I placed no such order and to cancel. They said they would cancel it but that the battery was most likely already shipped. They tried to convince me that when we do receive it, to give it a try and see if we may indeed want the service. I informed them that is not how we do business - accepting an order we did not place and trying it out anyway. The said I could refuse the package. I told my office staff not to accept a package from AT&T if/when it arrives, as I work from home half of the week. The package did arrive, my coworker did accept it, because the box did not have AT&T anywhere on it. What it did have, was a big yellow sticker that said open immediately. I had to call the company twice to get them to send me a return shipping label, which I had to take to UPS myself.
