Trying to get Spectrum support, I accidentally dialed 888-267-6094 instead of 833-267-6094, I got a scammer impersonating Spectrum customer service, complete with the automated questions at first, then connecting me to a person who, right off the bat, asked for a checking account so he could "compensate me $100" for my service being out, saying the lines were down in my area, even though they were not. I said I don't have one, so he asked for a credit card. After refusing this, he hung up on me.

The person thought they were calling Spectrum. They entered the 888 prefix instead of the 833 followed by the correct 7 digit phone number. The scammer said they needed to update the credit card information on the account. The credit card information was given before realizing they were not speaking to Spectrum. Luckily the card was cancelled before any charges were made.
