I RECEIVED A CALL FROM A GENTLEMAN,THEN WAS TRANSFERRED TO A WOMAN. BOTH WERE TRYING TO GET A CREDIIT CARD NUMBER AND MY INFO. AFTER THEY WERE BOTH DENIED, THEY SENT ME AN ENVELOPE FOR A $25 DONATION IN THE MAIL APPROX. 3 DAYS LATER.

I received a phone call requesting a donation to an annual fundraiser for the National Police and Troopers Association. I wanted to participate to help the underfunded, overworked police officers in their dangerous job, but felt the caller was a little bit forceful and impatient, and at one point almost rude. Wondering if this was some sort of scam I didn't want to give my credit card number over the phone. The caller seemed annoyed but asked for a pledge of $25, $35 or $50 or more so she could send me the donation form in the mail but directed that it must be paid within 30 days. The letter arrived about a week later and looked very authentic. Thinking a scam wouldn't follow up by mail and accept a personal check, and likely was authentic, I set it aside to pay when I paid other bills. But only a week later I got another call from a "fundraiser" person bluntly stating they noticed I had not yet paid my pledged amount and they need to take care of that and asked if I would like to do that right now using a credit card. Still being surprised at the curtness of the caller, I pointed out that it had not yet been a month, but also having decided this wasn't a scam after all I decided paying with my card was faster and easier than writing a check, finding a stamp and mailing my contribution. So I agreed to pay, whereupon I was promptly told the fundraiser had not progressed as well as hoped and would I consider donating more than my pledged amount. Since I felt they were being pushy I said I would give as pledged and gave my credit card number. Within two hours I received a text saying a $300+ charge for Sephora had been declined and asked if I were the one making the purchase. Now suspicious, I called my credit card company and learned that the Sephora purchase had been attempted several times as well as a $250+ charge for printing services which had also been declined. There is no doubt in my mind that the credit card number I gave two hours earlier for the "fundraiser" was used to attempt these purchases. This required that my credit card to be discontinued and a new one issued. Now, again this morning, I received another phone call from a fundraiser for something else that sounded legit but most certainly isn't. Apparently I am on someone's list.

In addition, although my son has lived out of the country for more than two years, he has received 30 separate envelopes which come to my home containing threats and demands for payment to

TRS recovery services, supposedly a debt collector, in Marietta, GA on 1600 Terrell Mill Road, phone numbers 678-255-2828 and 800-366-1048, for

all kinds of overdue payments to Maverik. This is obviously also a scam. Is there anyone at ScamPulse.com who can help me escape this scammers web?

Thank you.

Asked for donation, pressured need for highest amount. Then wanted the pin number to my debit card. I requested charity info be mailed to me before I would donate. They did send pamphlet, the limited research info they shared was very dicey. I opted out. They sent another mailing just yesterday 2-13-2023. Very professional sounding on phone, as was the letter.
