Credit Card Scam

I woke up to a text that seemed very legitimate from Capital One asking me if I had just tried to make a purchase for $180 at a retailer called “SP SITSIMPLE” nothing came up when I googled that and nothing showed on my capital one account when i went to see if there was an attempted or pending transaction.

But there was an email saying the same things as the text in my account.

The text and email both had me respond no, and then they proceeded to provide me with a phone number. The number was 1-833-489-1234. and the email address they used was [email protected].

I did not call the phone number and instead went into my capital one app and locked and changed my card number and am having a replacement sent to me.

Now I will be reporting and blocking the phone number and email that contacted me.

I don’t know if they actually tried to take my money or if they were banking on my calling ad giving my info so they could but please be careful and stay safe out there!

Looked exactly like Capital One bank email about suspicious transaction

I got a very legitimate-looking email asking me to verify a suspicious charge to my account of $3200. They said to call this number, where they asked for my SSN. The first time I called, I was afraid and didn't give it, but then I ended up on hold for a long time. They even had Capital One's normal wait music. Then I called again and, unfortunately, gave my SSN. However, when they also asked for my account number, I got scared and hung up. Now they have my SSN!

Received text 2am asking if I purchased Walmart +Membership for

$106.09 using last 4 numbers of my debit card. I replied No. They gave me a Fraud # and asked me to call this number (833-489-1234). I did not call them, instead I tried calling my bank and that’s how I ended up here.

The charge isn’t showing as pending on my account. I’m hoping this isn’t a scam but nothing looks right.
