Type of a scam Debt Collections

David ****** from “Jacobson and Wright” Tells my son he has a debt from Cashnet . Wanted his debit card information to process payment by 10/21 to get a “discount”. He gave it to them but we closed the card since. They sent him an email with an attachment but it’s no longer viewable. Tried calling them back to get validity of debt because we have a copy of the check from the bank that paid Cashnet off. They claim charges are from a returned check however that was the only check sent to Cashnet and it cleared. They have not since returned calls for the validity of debt. They did have the last 4 of my sons social .
