411 Directory Assistance Reports & Reviews (7)

I received a call from a guy claiming to represent 411 directory assistance. He told me that my business was the top hit on 411 in my area and if I wanted to keep my listing current I could sign up for a 1 year subscription and include a second year for half off. I agreed, thinking 411 is a free service and no harm in updating my information. He then transferred me to another agent who asked my the business name, address, phone number(s), email address to update my listing. He then tried to get my credit card info to complete the updated subscription. I then asked why they needed a credit card and how much it was. He quoted a number over $1000 for the two year subscription. At that point I told him I was not interested and hung up. A few days later, a woman named ***  called and again asked for me credit card information to pay for the subscription from 411 directory assistance that I had signed up for. I told her I never signed anything, to which she said that they had a recording of my agreeing to allow them to update the subscription, and the voice recording is as legally binding as a signature. I again told her I was not interested and hung up. She continued to call twice a day for two weeks until I blocked her number. I then received an email from her from a company called Sterling Business Solutions, including an invoice for over $1400. After a couple of emails they threatened to send my account to collections.

company contacted us over the phone, said we were getting 1000 hits per month and required payment to maintain our advertising listing.

We are a business that was contacted by 411 Directory Assistance in regards to an outstanding invoice. They called several times via phone and e-mail and have now sent us a payment slip. 411 Directory Assistance recorded one of our staff members on the phone saying yes and actually sent us a voice clip via e-mail claiming that she authorized these charges, which she did not.

Received a call from 411 Directory Assistance in November 2016 I did not agree to anything. I never heard anything from these people mail or e-mail in January I get a call saying that my bill is past due and I need to pay it immediately I advised them that I never received any sorta bill from them so no I would not pay them. The lady then did email me a invoice with a completely different name on it then 411 Directory Assistance. I then googled there name and found out that they are a scam and not to pay them a penny. I have not paid them a penny I have received 2 letters from GCQ Canada Collection agency which I called and was told "to bad I had no choice I had to pay or not to pay and deal with the consequences. I have now received a letter from a lawyer stating I have 48 hrs to pay ( unregistered so how do they know that even received the letter). Anyway I am just going to ride this out and see if they call me this year to renew or if they are just going to do the same thing again.

I received a call from someone asking if we wanted to renew our listing with them. We receive a lot of calls like this - such as *** *** and I did not think much of it. They said we already had an account with them, which I didn't even know about until they told me. They said it had been free - sure okay. They then went on about the opportunities of keeping the listing and never sent any information about the company or its services - no contract. Nothing was signed and there were no documents talking about their terms. The cost was never discussed and I believed that it was free. It was free the year prior apparently. Then at the end of the call, again without saying anything about money, they said we would receive an invoice in the mail. At the time I really had no idea what they were talking about and figured it was legit.

After receiving an invoice of a ridiculous amount of money - more than $1400 - I spoke to them again shortly after that and told them we could not afford that and that I was in no position to authorize an amount that large. I told them to cancel our listing right away and we were not interested. They became rude and stated I had no choice (it wasn't even a month after the initial call). I told them, sorry, we are a ***  and we do not advertise (monetary wise) and take us off their listing. The name on the invoice says Sterling Business Solutions as well - why another name?? As well, the invoice shows Gold listing. Where did that even come from? That was never told to me and I do not even know what it means except it is very expensive. They just decided to do whatever it was they wanted to do. I NEVER authorized a Gold listing, nor a cost of over $1400.00. If there was to be a fee, maybe $50.00. That makes sense, but anything else is beyond ridiculous.

I then did some research, which I shared with a contact via email, and found out that they are nothing but scammers and that a lot of people have been in the same situation. It turns out too that they change their names often - even the invoice had a different name. Some people said that even though they were very firm with their 'No' they STILL received an invoice and were harassed - so was I and continually. I have made many complaints to different government sites (which I told the contact) and I was blatantly ignored. Then all of a sudden I am hit with a collections notice. I found a site where someone went through the same thing and I read that the two companies are actually the same company or they work together. One person even wrote that the same person answered both numbers. I found in all of the information I read that in no uncertain terms am I to pay these scammers one cent. They said if you do, they will never stop and they will continue to send invoices.

I gave them lots of time (and since I signed nothing and received no documents from them) to take us off as it was less than a month. They refused and just became nothing but a pain. I want them to back off and leave me alone. No more of this. Enough is enough.

When you have hundreds of websites stating you are scamming people, isn't it time to back off?

Please fix this if you can.

Thank you.

Typical 411 Directory Assistance scam where they try to bill a business for a directory listing that was not ordered. My internet search found numerous identical scam occurrences. 411 contacted my office & asked the staff who answered the phone if they were authorized to order product over the telephone. My staff member said "it depends on what it is" but she did NOT place a directory listing. 411 has persistently tried to claim that one of my staff placed the listing which is not true. They have even sent the invoice to a collection agency, GCQ Canada. I have contacted our local RCMP who have advised our office to hang up on them if they contact our office again or give them the local RCMP detachment's telephone number to contact. The RCMP member actually went onto the 411 website & found that we weren't even listed! We have not sent 411 or GCQ Canada any money.

phone calls and faxes coming from "411da.ca" saying we owe for services. She was persistant calling daily asking for payment and saying we are over due. If we don't pay it will go to collections. They will take a discount off because it is close to a holiday.
