Type of a scam: Fake Check/Money Order

404-790-4848 / Brandon Jerrard McWhorter – Fake Check Using Dalhart Jersey Ranch Inc.

Claimed to be Brandon Jerrard McWhorter using 404-790-4848. Agreed to buy my $6,000 truck, then mailed a $9,975 check and instructed me to deposit it, keep $6,000, and send the remaining $3,975 to the person supposedly transporting the truck to Texas. He only communicated by text, repeatedly asked if the check had cleared, changed the name of the person I was supposed to send the money to multiple times, and became angry when I said I was waiting for my bank to verify the check. The check used the name Dalhart Jersey Ranch Inc., but I contacted the real company and they confirmed someone copied their checks and that they were not buying my truck. DO NOT SEND MONEY TO THIS # — repeat offender, big scam!

He just tried this exact thing with me. Once he texted his ID, I looked him up and saw this...so thank you! He gave me lots of excuses when I confronted him, but went silent once I asked if he would pay the transport company himself.

I really want to trust people and stuff like this makes me feel uncomfortably paranoid. I guess it's worth going through an online company to avoid parasites.

Auto Trader user warns of fake check scam from 404-790-4848

Scammer sent a message via the Auto Trader app and asked me to send a text to cell number 404-790-4848. After I sent a text and we discussed the condition of the vehicle, they implied they were traveling and asked if they could send a check, then after check cleared they could have the vehicle shipped. Apparently these scammers send checks for more than the agreed price, then want you to reimburse them the extra funds, and it becomes a financial nightmare that you end up on the losing end of. I did not fall for it but thought I would share to give others a heads up.
