Type of a scam Employment

I was contacted regarding a job offer as I am looking for employment opportunities. I search many jobs through various job engines such as linkedIn, google, indeed, monster etc. I recieved a text message from the provided 949 phone number from a Sarah MCcoy whom said she would like to interview me for a Data entry clerk position that the company has open on their website and to e-mail my resume to [email protected]. I emailed my resume to which she responded that the hiring process included a test assessment which had basic test questions and about me questions and an employment questionnaire. The employment questionnaire did not require any sensitive data such as bank accounts or routing numbers or personal info such as a SSN. It only asked for the bank you banked at. I did not hear any more from her and this was on Tuesday 1/21/25. The very next morning i woke up to an e-mail from her with an offer letter for the job and i was also texted again from that same number saying to follow up with my e-mail. How could i possibly get a job without an interview? im sure you are just as curious as i was, because i never spoke to anybody over the phone and the exchange was only via e-mail and her texting me. In the body of the e-mail when i opened up the offer letter the first page already made me suspicious because of how it was signed by a " Marshall Craig " COO and then it said the company would be sending out a check to purchase software on the laptop that would be used to complete the work to be in compliance with KYC and AML regulations and laws. I have never been asked to deposit a check and purchase software from an employer and furthermore, i had never had a formal interview with anybody from this company. All the exchange was through e-mail. Suspicious and curious, i moved over to google to which i found a thread on reddit from about 30 other people who were curious and suspiscious as they recieved the same interaction i had. Needless to say between all of us commenting back and forth we found out that this company website was created on 1/20/25 and the contract for the website was only made for a year, the baseline of it was coming from canada and all social media accounts for this company have not been used in years. ( facebook, LinkedIN etc ) There are no phone numbers to contact and someone else called the phone numbers listed on google and said none of them work. This website must come down it is 100% a scam.
