I received a call stating a charge was made to my amazon account, which I did not make they left phone number to call back (470)742-3984. I called them and was connected to a representative and began talking to him. I stupidly followed his directions which led to me giving him access to my computer and online banking. I had made an error on the amount so instead of 50.00 I was to have them refund me it turned out to be 5000.00. He then stated there was no way to reverse this transaction and I was to send 1000.00 to them then get a Target gift card and send 3850.00 to them to correct this. Luckily my husband came into the house and was listening to all this. I told the rep I was going to call my bank so they could correct the error, he then became panicked and started talking about paying taxes, etc. While I was speaking to him my husband called our bank and what they did was take the 5000.00 from our saving and put it as a credit to our checking account. As this was occurring he began to threaten me about disabling my computer and not allowing me access back to let me control my computer. The name of the bank he stated the money came from was World Bank, which then showed it was routed through Zelle Bank. When I kept confronting him and his manager and refused to pay and informed him what our bank told us he finally hung up. Our bank disabled our online banking and we then closed it out.If I had just gone to Amazon and checked my account this would not have happened. I always thought I was smart enough never to get scammed but now I have my tail between my legs and am very cautious about any phone calls that come in like this. I also filed a report with my local police. Please be aware of this and other scams. I was really taken in but luckily did not lose any money.
