I received in the mail today an express envelope with a letter and a check for $4770.23. Telling me to purchase 8 $500 Walmart Gift Cards, sending pictures of the cards back to 2 separate #s, then wait for my next assignment. Also in the letter to get a cashier's check from my bank for $20.71 for a charity that doesn't exist.

Received an offer with a check for $2,470 to be a secret shopper. I noticed the check was from a Credit Union in Pennsylvania dated 6/3 but mailed from a California address. Did some research and found out that this is a legitimate scam. I did not cash the check because I was not comfortable going to my bank and putting my money on the line. When they also suggested in the instructions that I should use my own debit card, that was the Red Flag ?? for me. I am returning the shredded check to them as well as their letter after I make copies.
