I thought I was on an official government website to reapply for my passport and filled out the forms with sensitive personal information and paid a $113 fee. When asked to upload photos of old passport and current drivers license, I experienced technical issues and called customer support. They were unhelpful, asking me to try in a new browser. It started to feel like a scam so I asked to speak to a manager and get a refund and have my account disabled, they would not comply. When calling the National Passport Information Center hotline, they confirmed they cannot see my information and said I must have used a 3rd party service or have been scammed. When I called my bank about the charge, they agreed that it was not a legit business/charge and are working on a fraud alert refund. I was advised to cancel all credit cards and put a freeze on my line of credit and was also advised to make a police report and file for identity theft. I also filed a report here: www.ic3.gov

The website came up top of a Google search for renewing a passport. It resembled the government website. They requested all my info, such as full name, SSN, birth date, and parents' information. After paying by credit card $119, they showed the form with all my info filled out. Nothing is submitted to the US GOV. This is a complete scam, and now I fear that all my personal identity has been stolen. Google should also be held liable for posting/advertising this site. I feel sick from this experience.
