Received a letter in the mail stating "There is an unclaimed 'permanent life insurance policy' held by our deceased client." It says the client has the same last name and asks "for your consent to be in partnership with me for the claim of this policy" in the amount of $11,550,300.

The attorney firm exists in Canada, but email address is changed. Scam letter has www.vanweertllp.com.

Received a postal letter claiming to be in reference to an unclaimed "Payable-on-Death" savings monetary deposit in the amount of $11,550,300. Name of the policy holder purportedly had same last name as me. Proposal was for me to sign documents substantiating my claim, donate 10% of the proceeds to charity and split the remaining 90%.

Received the letter asking me to participate in a scheme to defraud an insurance company to pay out a death benefit for someone I am not related to. More than likely it is an attempt to get me to pay a processing fee with the promise of a later payment. I did not attempt to respond to the letter. Even though the law company is supposedly located in Canada, the letter was postmarked in 'Greensboro NC 270, Piedmont Triad Area'.

I received a letter stating a person with my same last name died and left an estate worth over $11 million (11,550,300). They asked that I contact them. I did not. I searched the web and found your description of the same scam. Reporting to you in the hopes that others will see this.
