Type of a scam: Phishing

Funeral expense scammer

Funeral expense scammer working out of boilerroom (probably in India) with many other people in background. Gave fake name Sam Edwards Murphy. Fake supervisor Issac Green. Gave fake policy info from Aetna. Fake employee #MS49076. Gave fake callback # 904-648-1819 X-9161. Actual callback number which I tricked him into giving is 561-437-2492.

Its completely bull[censored] i also have a policy with RNA and that is the same agent who give the policy previous week i received the policy documents as well and its actually the same information which he provide me on call so i dont think so... may be you dont want the policy or may be you are just wasting your's and his time as well they guys are doing their job it doesnt mean they are scamming peoples they have to make living as well [censored]er.. if you think they are scammer why you are answering them and why you are wasting there time and your's as well

I received a phone call from Matthew Brown representing US funeral expenses. I had to hang up midway through our conversation so I noted that the two calls came from two different numbers 520-5052290 and 520-4416459. I mentioned that to him when he called me back and he says well he has two phones. I let him know that I checked the company and they appear to be a scam and he goes no ma’am because I’m giving you my personal information and I told him I’m hanging up now, prior to that the first time he called he was very charming. Laughed at everything of course a good scammer he’s selling funeral services. He had some information on me already. He had my home address prior to really thinking I gave him my mailing address, which is a PO Box. He already knew my two middle initials , something didn’t feel right so I told him I had someone at the door and he would need to call me back in an hour, he did just call me back, but that’s when I told him that I felt this was a scam and hung up.

Here's the information I gathered for US Funeral Expenses.

The latest call came in on 12/20/23 at 9:01 AM from ***********2 and one previous at 8:36 AM from ************. But it only rang twice, and I was unable to answer it. I answered the following questions under a fictitious name Robert ******* ** ***** ***, married for 30 yrs., children/grandchildren, and I am extremely interested in obtaining a policy. Here are some of the questions I was asked by Marcus, and the contact information provided.

Marcus, Benefit Coordinator for the State of IL; Marcus contact ************ ext. 211; State approved plan at no cost to me if I qualify; Website - www.usfuneralexpenses.net; MIB will pull my medical records for final approval for insurance; Marcus asked me...my age; if I had funeral coverage; who makes the decisions in the household; my income; if I had any ailments such as cancer, high blood pressure, etc. who would be the beneficiaries; I could use the policy as a savings plan; Marcus was pushy and wanted me to sign up immediately; and I would be billed within a month of signing up. Marcus wanted me to speak with someone that would verify my information and start the policy. I requested a return call because I was late for an appointment. Marcus said he would call me back around 2:00 PM CST.
