I believed I was renewing my passport. I believed it was an official sight, unfortunately it was not. I paid to renew my passport, giving my personal information including my social security number, and also paid for a passport ID card for my wallet. What I received was an email that stated they had filled out the form for me and I could download it and take it to the Passport office to apply for my renewal. I believed I was paying for the actual renewal. I am more than capable of filling out a form. I was fooled by the look of the site and the language used. I don't care as much about the money, as my personal information.

I did a google search for online passport renewal, and one of the top 3 links (sponsored) was for this service: https://apply.uspassportandvisa.org/ I filled out the form with my personal information and hit submit, but nothing happened. Then I started to realize it was not an official government website. I found some other scams listed online. Fortunately I did not provide any payment information, but I'm concerned that they may have collected my personal information.

I made the mistake of doing a search for obtaining an updated passport online and am quite embarrassed that I didn't think this through. I completed the "application" of this Florida company and then when I went to enter the payment information, none of the forms of payment I provided went through (thank goodness). Then two of my banks contacted me to check after the fact with me to see if it was fraud. It seems they recognized it as fraud. I can't believe I did something so stupid. Of course, the only site I should conduct such business is the State Department that issues such passports. I contacted the company to complain and the CS person claimed they don't mislead anyone and don't keep such information, only using it to assist people in getting passports. I'm so made at myself that I did this but what's done is done.

- Lizton, IN, USA

- North Royalton, OH, USA

I googled "renew my passport" and this site comes up https://www.myusatraveldocs.org making you think it is part of the government and when you click on it everything looks legit. I completed the info and paid and then realized it is not part of the government. They collected very sensitive info including social security numbers, DOB's , old passport numbers. I am very concerned now.

- Valrico, FL, USA

Original forms were submitted online on July 9, 2023. A payment confirmation was never received, but the charge appeared on the credit card statement. A response from the company was finally received on Jan. 11, 2024, stating that a completed .pdf form was ready to download, print, and submit to the US passport office. The form was unusable, got error message when trying to download. Correspondence via a phone call and repeated emails has been sent requesting a new email with a usable form and after no response, a request for refund has been denied. I have copies of supportive documents.

Passport renewal submission form and we forms look the same as the US Government’s.

I looked up "how to get a us passport". This looked official. In the end they have all of my information, they are not afilliated with getting a passport, so i will need to pay another 130$ for my actual passport. I garantee anyone using this service believes they are applying for a passport.

usa-passport.org masquerades as a legitimate requirement for filling out a passport application, which is free to do. Their web address is deceptive. Only in the fine print at the bottom of the page do they disclose that they are an optional service and that a passport application is free.

First thing that pops up! So annoying, looks legit until the last page

This organization misleads consumer into thinking they are US Passport Agency. It's the first site that pops up for passport renewal and has a gov description in web address. Scam. Collect money and individual personla data to process a US passport application. Fraud alert!

USA-Passport.org Website popped up first on Google to renew US Passport online. The prompt you to fill out what appears to be a legitimate DS-82 renewal form for passport. After completing the form with all your pertinent information they request $49 payment through credit card. Immediately they charged my account. They charge for allegedly reviewing the application. They send a receipt and then do not respond to messages via the website or emails.

Well, I entered all the info for renewal, thought it was the correct site. It rejected my CC payment so I tried 2 different cards. My business bank called and said it was trying to charge $ 49 out of SPAIN. Now my husbands info is on the dark web. What can I do ?

I did the same thing but it was before the weekend. So my payment was on hold. And that I sent a message to their website explaining about the misleading. They replied to me that they credited $49 back. But that was after I called VISA to dispute the charge. Later VISA confirmed the dispute. After that I didn’t care. Oh well! They get my personal information. Don’t be afraid. If only you live life in technology and know how always change passwords for anything really private or pick up the security questions that nobody but you know, it would help quite a bit. The rest, what else can they do much about your identity info. Go ahead and pay mortgage for us then get old!

This is an organization that looks almost exactly like the Government Passport website. I was in a rush and foolishly inputted my information. They charged me $49. They purport to help prepare the passport PDF. It is a useless service. I have tried to contact customer service with no avail. I am worried that they now have all of my sensitive information. I am in the midst of stopping the charge and creating a credit freeze. Do not use this website!

I thought I was on a government passport site.
I searched renew US Passport and USA-passport.org site came up.
* This site should be removed.

Today, November 2nd, I tried to renew my passport. I thought I was on a US government site. Then only after paying, I get an email that says: "It charges a fee for its service of providing customer support and a passport form PDF editor, which isn't offered by the government. Alternatively, the forms needed to apply for a U.S. passport can be downloaded for free from the government's own website and completed manually, without this service." I tried to get a refund, but no response. Just like the hundreds of people on Yelp who feel just as stupid as I do right now. More importantly, I'm terrified that I just gave my social security number to these scammers. These "people" cannot be allowed to prey on U.S. citizens like this.
