Scammed by Sonia (and Robert) from two by two lagotto
Everything about the situation felt weird so I did some research and saw that she was doing the same thing to other people as well.
She said she would refund me over 2 years ago and she continues to say that she's getting a divorce and Robert stole her money and she's planning to file for bankruptcy and can't pay me back. Not sure what to do. Anyone have any ideas? I'm desperate for the money she's taken.
Two by Two Lagotto Scam
I put a $500 deposit down in late 2020. I was put on the spring 2021 list, but asked to be pushed to the next list as I would be moving in 2021.
Finally, I was told I was on the list for spring *2023* and was matched with an actual puppy. I filled in all the forms, I went through all of Sonia's mandatory trainings, sent the payment for the puppy, booked my flights, and purchased all of the extras that Sonia had on her list of necessities.
Right before I was to pick up the puppy (approx. 2 weeks) I was told that she was no longer a good fit and had a high prey drive and I would not be receiving the puppy. I opted transfer my payment for a puppy from the summer litters which were to be born in May. My only preference was that this time the puppy be female.
At the end of May, I emailed Sonia asking for news as I should have heard something by then. She had dogs whelping and would get back to me.
June 19th, well after the puppy should have been born, I received a very long email from Sonia saying her farm was having issues, and there were issues within her breeding program. I was offered the option to continue to wait or receive a refund. I opted for the refund as being the person who paid in full in FEBRUARY I should have been priority for matching in MAY. She continues to post adorable puppies on her Two by Two Lagotto Facebook page, so she does have puppies available, just not for those of us who paid full price apparently.
It's now almost September, and I have still not received a refund, and because she has had my money for over 6 months, I can no longer do a charge back through my credit card. Conveniently, the gap between when I paid and the litter I was shifted to was well over my card's 90 day charge back limit.
I have been patient. I have been understanding that dogs are living, unpredictable things and things just sometimes happen. However, the incredibly easy solution to this is to not charge people until the day of pick up. Instead, she's still taking $500 deposits and reservations for puppies.
DO NOT PAY TWO BY TWO LAGOTTO FULL PRICE UNTIL YOU HAVE THE PUPPY IN YOUR HANDS.
