Fake loan approval from ThriverServices.com led to a $650 loss
He told me that in order to get the loan I would need to either have a cosigner with a very high credit score or to submit $650. The $650 would be the first two monthly payments of the loan, and it will serve as collateral. Everything seemed legitimate, they sent me a document to sign that looked legitimate, and all the information you would expect from a lender on the document.
I wasn’t ready when he first called to make the payment, but I got the money together and called back to make a payment a couple days later. He then said that a woman would call me back to accept the payment.
When I spoke with the woman, I believe her name was Jessica, she told me that I needed to go to Walmart and send the money through Ria because it was a Canadian lender that was servicing the loan, and that was why she had to get involved.
Though I was suspicious I sent the money. And about an hour later, she called me again to tell me that I needed to send another $650 because of my credit profile. She also said that the lender cannot ask me for more money after the payment was made. I told her that I just wanted a refund, to which she said she’d process.
Jeremy calls me back a few minutes later and says he doesn’t like how things have gone and that he is going to request that his company pays the additional $650, but they won’t be able to make the payment until January, the 3rd I believe. I go ahead and agree to wait.
In January, I got a call from a guy named Mike who tells me that they don’t have the money and ask if I have the money to put up. Go ahead and tell him no and that I want a refund. He tells me it’ll take 30 business days for me to get the refund.
I have not heard from them, and I have not seen the money. I thought I did my due diligence because I tried to look for their website, but I could only click on the link to the website when I clicked on it from the email. I also tried to find reviews, I even checked Reddit, but found none. With every person that I spoke to, they called from the same number. They never transferred me to the next person, but everyone had their own extension. They had waiting music and everything, like a legitimate business. I tried to get information about who the lender was, but they wouldn’t give me the information stating that it wasn’t anything that I needed to know.
Unfortunately, they made the end of 2025 extremely hard. I had lost my husband in September, and his birthday is on Christmas Day. I had no Christmas gifts to give to my daughter, and on top of that I wasn’t able to pay my rent and was served with an eviction. I wish these people understood how much they take from people who honestly need assistance, and the consequences that follow. I hope that they’re ready for the karma that will come to them.
