Selling a car online. Scammer sent text inquiry and asked "reasonable" questions about the car over two day period. Once he convinced me he was legit, he sent me to theautoprime.com to get a full report on my vehicle, claiming that Carfax had become unreliable. Lost $39 ordering a report before realizing it was a scam site.

SELLER BE WARNED!

I received a text message from an individual inquiring if my motorcycle was still for sell. After replying "Yes", I was asked how long I had it and only owner or second?. I advised original owner purchased new. Post my inquiry, the individual said, "I'm Morgun and I drive BMW X3 from Tampa". Then preceded to inquire if I had inspection report. I advised all details including VIN posted on auto trader and posted autotrader URL link within text. The individual replied back and said they have all the details and wanted a fresh inspection report. "Oh! I would appreciate, If you could provide me a fresh inspection from primescheck.com". Here is my email [email protected], please let me know as soon as you get it and forward to me.

This is when I realized something not right...claimed they were Morgun and then email says different. Long story short, I decided to invest the $60 in the report if it helped with the sell of my motorcycle. Thank God, my credit company Navy Federal CU flagged as suspicious activity was being processed by DATAEDGE TECHNOLOGY. I did quick research and found out to be scam site. My wife checked another one called theautoprime.com...scam as well.

By this time I got contacted by NFCU as Fraud detected and they stopped payment from processing and closed card. They are sending me new credit card since mine was just compromised. Take note to the screen shot where the supposed review is listed as "Drake Scott"...hmmm. Moral of the story, do not do any deals without speaking to the person on the phone and actually meet in a safe location such as Police station or public are covered with cameras AND and ensure it is a true buyer AND don't ever fall for any website request via text. My wife closed her credit card account as well before any payment processed on hers.

They work in tandem. Interested buyer plays on your desire to sell. Demands you use theautoprime.com to generate a car report. They decline carfax. We paid $60 for said report and texted it to him. Then he doesn’t buy car. I started getting nervous when a spam caller called me (tandem scammer) and in a thick accent was checking to see if I got the report. She said her name was Stacey (right :/) ~ then 2 days later another interested buyer said I need to pay for another report and I said no. They called me an [censored] and said everyone knows theautoprime is a scam. So, apparently there are a couple bogus report companies out there. Beware. It’s a high tech scam. The other bogus report company is VT vinfactslookup.com Beware!

We are selling a vehicle, and the buyer was texting asking about vehicle information. He then asked us go to website and send the information to his email. The website asked for $40 fee. My son put in his debit card information and the website ended up being a scam, junk. The guy continued to hound me texting asking for this report to be done and let him know when it would be finished.
