The Outreach Team Reports & Reviews (4)

I interviewed for a job here and went through the orientation/training but left because it seemed like some kind of identity theft scam. Horribly mismanaged from the first interview. Not a single employee was able to demonstrate that they have read the petition. Their "office" looks like they are squatters in an abandoned building. There is no real furniture and papers are strewn everywhere. I immediately regretted filling out the onboarding paperwork, which was extensive and required me to submit a ton of personal information. I do not trust this company to pay people or manage private information. If you work for this place, not only will your personal safety be at risk, but you will be at risk of identity theft and wage theft. They REQUIRE you to get into a stranger's car your first day. You are not allowed to drive yourself to the outreach locations, which is unheard of in almost every job in this country. If you want to drive yourself, you are REQUIRED to put strangers in your vehicle. That is a MAJOR safety issue. The Outreach Team ACTIVELY DISCOURAGES ALL EMPLOYEES AND CIVILIANS NOT TO READ THE PETITION. I was the only person in the room who could demonstrate having read the petition AT ALL, only because I asked for a copy of it 3 times prior to my start date. There was no intelligent employee present who I spoke to. The Outreach Team seems to actively encourage employees to be uneducated - it is what they want. Questions are not welcome. There is no transparency whatsoever in this organization. I was disturbed by this place, their building and their company culture. There was cult-like manipulation included in the orientation. Employees were gaslit heavily by training staff, who didn't seem like they knew enough about politics to even VOTE let alone work for an organization that represents legislation. Trainees were encouraged to be grateful that we were paid AT ALL, to be astonished that this company provides the tools needed to do our jobs, and other things which are a BARE MINIMUM that ALL companies are required to do by the State of California. We were actively encouraged to compare our wages to sweatshops in 3rd world countries and be grateful we were paid. This is not a good place to work. The Outreach Team and every employee who walks into their scary office should raise their standards - The Outreach Team does not even meet the bare minimum. I have NEVER walked out of a job this quickly. Run, don't walk away. Had I stayed, I would have gotten numerous parking tickets and risked my safety getting into a vehicle with strangers. I hope that I receive the paycheck I was promised. BE SAFE!

"The Outreach Team," a vague website that does not have much information about what they do except that they will hire you part time or full time. I was under the assumption that I was applying for a political campaign worker job, some sort of voter turn out initiative. Some of the pictures on their website contain images of Amnesty International and Children International - but I only realized this didn't add up after I gave up personal info. I put in my resume, name and contact info, and they texted me with a note to say - please select an interview time. The also emailed me, and then called me when I didn't answer the text/email. I agreed to a zoom interview and they proceeded to ask me where I live and things about me like what experiences I have. They told me exactly how much $$ I would make on the election day, and that there would be a 4 hour training, half online half "social distanced style" in a park in the city in the evening. They said to bring two forms of valid ID to the training (I.e. the park), license and passport. After the interview I realized this was an extremely convoluted scam of identity theft, or something bad.

Hey there! The Outreach team is a consulting firm, so we partner with progressive nonprofits to do various things like voter registration, petition gathering, get out the vote, fundraising, etc. Because of COVID-19, we switched to a completely remote model for our salaried staff. But because we must follow work authorization and tax laws, we still need people to fill out onboarding forms and this has to be remote, as we don't have central offices anymore in the cities we are working in (again, because of COVID). I have been employed as a canvasser, field director, and now recruitment specialist with The Outreach Team since July, 2019. I can assure you, we're pretty darn legit!

The Outreach Team and their partner, 360 Campaign Consulting LLC. have been posting fake job offers on various online platforms, including their own websites. Their sites both mislead job seekers to believe that they are offering canvassing jobs as an affiliate fundraiser for Amnesty International. At the on-site job interview, my driver license barcode was scanned, a photo was taken of me without consent, and I was required to provide personal information about my home address and vehicle. I later learned that the group is not a legitimate arm of Amnesty International and does not even have real employees. I fear for my safety in my own home and neighborhood now because some guy has all my information, including a picture of me.
