The Lending Club offered me a loan via text. I completed the standard form. They sent me a 2nd text informing me I was approved. They also called. The call had quite a bit of background static-type noise like he was on the other side of the planet (which perhaps he was). I asked where he was calling from and he told me San Francisco, CA, which matches the area code. I’m fairly certain anyone from anywhere could obtain such a phone number. He insisted on staying on the line with me while I opened their email, which included a form so I could fill in the blanks where the info was missing. I got to a page where they wanted my bank account login credentials. I told him I was uncomfortable with that and he told me they just needed it for the link-up to my account. I reluctantly (stupidly!) gave them that info. Then when my bank sent me an alert, he demanded the 6-digit code they sent me. I told him I did not receive such a text. He got a little steamed and kept telling me to look again as he needed that 6-digit code. I then saw another request from The Lending Club come through asking me for my secret banking pin. At that point, I told the guy (who was foreign and extremely difficult to understand) that enough was enough, that I didn’t believe they were legitimate and did NOT want to proceed with the loan. He tried desperately to keep me on the line and kept calling back. I kept trying to get off the phone with him and finally hung up. He kept calling & I didn’t answer then he started sending text messages that I likewise didn’t answer. Then I called my bank. They were aghast that I’d given out my login info and promptly closed down my account and debit card. UGH!!!

Been dealing with two people scammers. Daniel Carter and Michael. Michael seems nicer than Daniel Carter. I spoke with Michael first because said he was with Lending Club. I applied for a loan on Lending Club website. Somehow Daniel Carter got my information... I mean all of my information that I submitted online. I spoke with Michael thinking I was talking to a guy from Lending Club. He said I was approved for $3000 to $5000.00 I was like shock. I didn't think I would be approved for loan for that amount. They send me the loan agreement letter to my email. Shame on me...I agree with the loan process and emailed the Loan officer back. Next step was Michael calling me telling me that they can help me by offering me this program, by depositing an extra $2100.00 to bring your account positive to help you bring up your credit. Once we do that then you will have to send $2100 back to us. You will have to go a store such as, Food 4 Less or Best Buy or Walmart and send the money back to us from there. I was like I never heard that before and I do not need the extra $2100.00 and do not feel comfortable going to a food 4 less to send you $2100.00. So I told him I do not approve this program they are offering me. Michael then said to me let me have Daniel Carter the Fund Adviser speak with you to explain to you the program. Daniel gets on the phone and explain to me the program. I said I am interested in the extra $2100.00 and I do not feel comfortable going to a store like Food 4 less and sending you the $2100 that I did not asked for or approve. Daniel Said this mandatory in order to get the personal loan of $3000.00. I told him then I am not interested. He then said then the loan is not approved. I said okay that fine. Let me tell you he was very rude too. Once I hung up, I then got an email from my bank saying I got a deposit of $3000.00. I was very confused. I thought Daniel Carter said I wasn't approved for the loan anymore. This happened yesterday 11/15/21. This morning 11/16/21 Michael called me really early not during regular business hours. I told him I will call him back because it was too early to talk. He was calling about the deposit. I called him back and told him I never approved the deposit into my back. Michael said they already issued a deposit after you said you didn't want to move forward. He then continue to explain to me that, that deposit is not the loan you are approved for its the money that will help you bring up your credit. I said my bank put a hold on the check you deposit and I never wanted the money. He then said then we will call you tomorrow letting you know how to send the money back to us. I then called my bank to see if I can reverse the check or stop the check from being release into my account. Told my bank I did not approve this deposit. My bank is now having me close that account. My bank is unable to put a stop to the check from being released. I am feeling stuck and I don't know what to do. Guys like Daniel Carter prey on the innocent by standers like myself who are struggling with paying down debt. I work really hard too and I still don't make enough money. Now I have to deal with guys like Daniel and Michael. This is a first and boy...! I learned my lesson.
I am afraid if I close my account they will come after me. Now since they deposit a check in my account I fell trapped to their scam. I don't even want their money at all and mentioned that to Michael and Daniel. Was weird too Michael turned on the saying for now you are being recorded after I got upset with him about depositing $3000.00 in my account. Now I kept calling his number back and no response either. Watch out for Daniel Carter , His number now is a 213-349-7887. Sorry for the long detailed report. I hope someone else doesn't do what I did.
I fell for their scam and I am still dealing with it today 11/16/21 and again tomorrow 11/17/21 .

Loan approval of $10,000 but it's actually a preapproval for a fake loan that you are not approved for so the foreigners can get your info

"The Lending Club" keeps reaching out because I had filed online to get a loan, but not with them. They somehow know my credit score, Social Security number and other personal information. I was approved for between $3,000 and $5,000 loan. I was not able to use my card so they wanted me to either use Western Union, US Bank or Wells Fargo in order for them to release the funds. They also wanted $200 worth of eBay cards (2 $100 cards) and was told not to tell the cashier what I was doing. They wanted me to scratch off the back and when they got that, they would give me my money. The guy I spoke with was named "Daniel Carter". When we called him back letting him know that we were at the store, we put him on mute. We heard him in the background speaking Spanish and say that "she fell for it".

i received a text that i was approved for a loan of $8,000 i called( i have been applying for a Loan for bill consolidation and i was sure this was one of the companies I've applied with) we spoke and i gave them my info, once i heard the conditions of how they were going to put a 1,000 into my checking account and then i would haft to take it out and send it back via western union or gift card i felt like slapping myself

i said i would haft to think about it and i will call them back i will call them and tell them never mind i just hope i didn't screw myself by giving them my info

I want to know what happen once they asked you to send the money back? Were you able to just close your account? was the deposit a fake check ? I am asking because I am experience this right now and he asked me to go to a store to send the money back and my bank put a hold on it when he made the deposit but they will release it. I don't know if the check is fake. This guy is something else. He should get arrested.
I am beating myself up for believing he was with Lending Club. So weird because I did apply on Lending Club website for a loan. They even mentioned they were with Lending Club. I will probably have to close my account.

This scammer called me. Told me I had been approved for $5000.00 loan. They deposited $300.00 into my account and then told me I had to send it back to them to make sure my account was okay to deposit. Then after I sent them back their money, I found out that their money had a hold on it at my bank and had not cleared. SO, I had not gotten their deposit, plus i had sent them my $300 dollars and now I have nothing. I do have their written loan document. They have disconnected their phone number. But they identified themselves as the Lending Club. They sent me an econtract. I really thought this was an up and up agreement. But, I got took. They have also blocked their email address. They are not the real Lending Club.

My wife received a text message from an unknown number stating she'd been approved for a loan for $5,000. When I called the number from my phone and stated she'd received notice that she'd been approved for a loan she didn't apply for, the person said they'd cancel the loan from their end without asking for a name. I'd only stated my wife received a text, never giving her name or any identifying information.
