The company TechFixNow contacted me to refund me for services they did not render. they claimed they were going out of business, and because i had a subscription they would refund me for the remainder of my subscription period. they then proceeded to access my bank accounts through my computer. when they did this my screen went black to prevent me from seeing what they were doing. i found out later that they transferred money from my savings to my checking, and then claimed to me later that it was a refund they sent. the refund was supposed to be $200. the amount they transferred was $1200. the representative for their company then told me that he transferred that much because that was the minimum that his bank would allow for an international transfer. he then requested that i head immediately to my nearest money gram to transfer him back the difference, even though it was all my money in the first place. at this point i initiated fraud prevention measures through my bank, and through my legitimate computer technical service. i have no doubt that if i had transferred the money that he would have then crashed my computer to prevent detection, as he insisted that he access my computer immediately after i returned to supposedly remove his software, but i was warned by both of my fraud prevention representatives that crashing a computer after a scam like this was very common. fortunately, i acted as swiftly and cautiously as i did, and did not lose any money or have any damage to my computer.
