Similar experience as others. Selling a car on Craigslist and someone reached out wanting a VIN report from http://tarheelcarshistory.com/. Upon searching this person's email address ([email protected]) I found this has been a recurring and known issue. Since they weren't interested in a Carfax report, I ended the conversation and blocked their number so I would not get further texts.
