I was shopping online for livestock purchase and found contact information for Ladeja Scott online in a website called, here is a link to one of his listings: http://cattle-exchange.com/listing/sale-550-holstein-jersey-bred-heifers after reviewing the listing I reached out directly to the phone number provided in the listing inquiring for further information at phone number 424-245-5684. I expressed interest in purchasing 20-25 jersey cows in production and after exchanging several text messages and emails with detailed information, he asked to continue texting at his personal phone number 802-729-0326, which i did. I have been in contact for several months now and had not been able to make any payments until 11/10/2016 due to our low budget and trying to save the money to complete the purchase of 20 jersey cows for a total of $5900. This amount included shipping and home delivery of the animals to Monte Plata, Dominican Republic. Because we did not have enough money, I asked the seller if I can only purchase 10 cows, which originally he agreed and I made the first payment for $1450. A few days later he contacted me indicating that his company had a minimum order requirement of at least 22 cows and i told him that at the time we did not have the appropriate space to keep that amount and could only purchase 20. He agreed that 20 was acceptable and insisted that I make another payment for $1450, which would cover 50% deposit for 20 cows total. After speaking with my husband we agreed that we wanted to secure the purchase and agreed to make the payment for $1450 on 12/02/2016 so that we would have at least the 50% payment covered. Per the seller, he also wanted to have all the paper work ready for when i provided him an expected delivery day. The seller maintained contact and on 12/12/2016 he reached out indicating that a phyto-sanitary certification needed to be filed for preparing the shipping of the livestock and I had to provide a payment for $310, which would be deducted from the remaining 50% balance so therefore my remaining balance would now be $2590. I maintained following up with the seller and on 12/19/2016, he reached out indicating that his accounting department had to close the accounting books for 2016 and that i must make the remaining payment for $2590 before 12/25/2016 because that was the cut off for his accounting department to close the books. I asked him that I would need more pictures of the animals and paper work of the progress of the process in order to do so, he provided me the necessary documentation in the following days (certificate of ownership, branding, USDA broker name, etc) so my husband and I felt "secure" and on 12/19/2016 proceeded to make the final payment of $2590. Initially the payment was blocked by my bank and i then had to call them to let them know that it was a wire transfer i made for the purchase of 20 jersey cows, so the bank released the payment. I maintained contact with the seller and he continued to advise he was working on final paper work to arrange the shipment. On 12/23/2016, I receive a text message from the seller's phone number indicating it was his wife and her husband had been working at the farm and was involved in an accident and needed urgent surgery and that she (Jessica), would be handling the rest of the paper work. Since then, she asked me to wire her $375 more to complete the paper work and i refused. I've been insisting on getting a delivery date and none has been given
