Caller on ScamPulse.com public info line says his business (a pavement striping company, New Hope, MN) was contacted late last year by "School District Publishing," offering an opportunity to advertise in a publication affiliated with Lakeville (MN) School District. Business owner had a number of communications with SDP about running a 1/16-page ad, and was sent a payment invoice. Had reservations about moving forward, and contacted Lakeville School District. District said they had no connection to or knowledge of this entity. On invoice, SDP shows what appears to be a UPS Store / post office box address in St Paul. Business owner then contacted ScamPulse.com for additional guidance. ScamPulse.com staff advised caller not to proceed, for a number of reasons -- e.g., a ScamPulse.com business profile (Oakland, CA) shows previous issues, ScamPulse.com has received a number of Scam Tracker reports, and no business by this name reg'd w MN Sec'y of State.

Type of a scam Fake Invoice/Supplier Bill

Our company was never a customer, but School District Publishing sent our company an invoice claiming we agreed to place an ad with some non-existent school district publication. The invoice was for five hundred and ninety-five dollars. We never had any communication with School District Publishing until receipt of this emailed invoice. The email was thereafter followed by numerous emails offering to take less on a payment plan. A w-9 was also sent to our company, giving the true perpetrator's name as 2012 USP Holdings, Inc. The perpetrator is a Delaware company registered in New York at the Elmont location and in Texas. The registered agent in Texas is Clifford Zeifman.

There is a customer review on the ScamPulse.com website complaining of the exact same misdeeds by the perpetrator's dba, University Sports Publications, but the ScamPulse.com still lists this company as A+. ScamPulse.com should review the multiple online complaints and conduct a more detailed investigation into this matter.
