Type of a scam Online Purchase

I followed an Instagram ad to the Shopify store for Sandalshaven.com. I purchased two pairs of sandals. The ad advertised them as oiled leather Birkenstocks. I ordered a faded khaki and a tobacco color. When I got email confirmation on 3/19/25 of my purchase, it was from the Sandalshaven shop, seemingly dba Luminsee. The sandals pictured in the confirmation email were the same that I'd purchased through Shopify. The looked like leather Birkenstock sandals. on 3/30/25 I received my purchase. Tracking showed it was sent from China. There was no shipping/return/receipt information in the package. The shoes were stuffed loose in a bubble pack. When I opened the pack, the off-gas smell was so strong I had to take it outside. The sandals were obviously not leather. They were very cheap vinyl. One pair was green/khaki but the other was bright orange, not at all the tobacco color I ordered. In addition, the shoes had different branding on the buckles and entirely different treads on the bottoms. When I contacted Luminsee/Sandalshaven, they asked me to send photos, which I promptly did. Then they sent me instructions for how to mitigate the off-gas smell. I asked for my money back because the product they gave me was clearly not the product I purchased. They gave me the option to return and pay for shipping or to keep them and they'd give me 10% off. I have no faith I'd get my money back on the return. I also don't believe I should pay shipping for a return on clearly misleading/counterfeit products. I have contacted the Shopify store to let them know that though Sandalshaven claims to be ScamPulse.com accredited business, I cannot find them on this website. They also claim to be a "small shop outside of Chicago" but I can find no evidence of this, either. There is no phone number or address on the website. This seems like a pretty significant scam. I feel dumb for clicking on the Instagram ad, but I don't want others to experience the same thing I did, so I'm reaching out to you (especially since they claim to be a registered member of the BBB!). Thanks for your attention.
