Job offer for remote virtual assistant led to money loss

I was messaged via my school email about a job offer for a Remote Virtual Assistant. I was excited to finally have some personal income since I'd been in debt lately, so I took the offer. I was messaged by a man by the name of Jason Broussard. He sent me a paycheck, which I put into my personal account, and told me to send them $400.00, so I unfortunately did. However, I was later told that the check was put on hold, and my account got put in the negative. Thankfully, I did not give away information that was too personal, such as my SSN or account numbers, but I did lose money.

Remote virtual assistant job with construction company turns out to be a scam

I don't remember how I was approached, but this particular scammer was posing as someone from a construction company. The job itself was for a 'remote virtual assistant.' They asked for some of my personal information, some of which I did unfortunately give away. I was hired shortly after, which did seem strange as they did not question whether I had the proper skills for the job, nor conducted a proper interview. Two days after I was approached by this "job," they immediately sent me a suspicious amount of money that was meant to be used to pay their supposed bills. I quickly went to search if it was normal for a company to have a new hire pay for their bills or equipment, and to my surprise, it is not at all normal. I hope that this will help others avoid situations like this, before something unthinkable happens in which there is reversing it.
