I applied for a data entry representative job said to be at the company Reverion gmbh which as far as I can tell is a real company located in Germany. I was contacted via email from the email [email protected] telling me to download the telegram app and contact the person under the username @florian_reverion/www.t.me/florian_reverion. The person I was contacting was posing as Florian Wolfenstetter who I believe is a real person they have an indeed profile that states they work for Reverion and is listed in academic research papers. I was told the company was a German company, given the company url which is https://reverion.com. I was told the company has headquarters in Germany but has one office in the US in Washington and is opening another office in the capital of my state. I proceeded to do an interview with them over text on the Telegram app that took approximately 2 hours. They “consulted with their team members” and then hired me, that was Wednesday. I was to come on to the telegram app at 8 am my time every weekday for updates. On Thursday I came at 8 am and was sent new hire paperwork from the email [email protected] which I was told was an hr email. The documents I was sent are attached. I filled them out and sent them back. I was then told they sent a check out to me for me to deposit and use to buy work materials for the company including a laptop, printer, software, etc. The check was supposed to arrive on Friday but was delayed until Monday. On Monday a received a check for $4,982.44. I was emailed a task from [email protected] which to write a report on customer satisfaction and have it in by 8 am the next day, tuesday, which I completed. On tuesday I deposited the check at my bank, chase bank, and it was put on hold for 9 days. I was then told that in order to avoid delaying training if I could sponsor money for training materials which I would be refunded from the check when it came though. I told them I could sponsor $2600. They directed me to go to an Apple Store and get gift cards for that amount which I did. The Apple Store manager wanted an email and phone number to make sure this wasn’t a scam and when I asked for that they gave me the email and phone number [email protected], +1 719-283-6633. The manager wasn’t sure if it was a scam and allowed me to purchase them if I thought it was legit which I did. I then purchased them from my bank account with $1300 on each card and then sent the gift card numbers to them. I was told to check in the next day. Wednesday morning at 8 am I was sent low quality photos of an apple MacBook and printer they they said they got from the manufacturer that were my work materials. They said before they could send them out they needed $1000 for a computer chip which they explained the purpose of and if I could sponsor that before the check at the moment. I said I could not as I had sponsored all I could. They said they understood and for me to check back in at noon. I came back at noon but didn’t hear anything which wasn’t unusual as they were often late to get back to me. Around 2:30 when I went into the telegram app their username was no longer available, the app said the user didn’t exist, and I could no longer access our conversations. I emailed them at [email protected], text at +1 719-283-6633, as well as called and I never heard anything back. I later emailed the hr email as well as [email protected] and [email protected] which are emails listed on the company site. I never heard back. It is now Friday. The check is supposed to come through next Thursday but I expect it to bounce.

I got scammed by the same [censored]. The way they contacted me was I got a phone call last week from one of the companies that I applied to. I forgot the name of the company, but they told me that they didn't have a position open for my area (Miami, FL) and told me that another position would open up next week (which is this week) and that they liked what I told them about my experience and would put me on a call-back list. August 1, I get this text from a 719 (Colorado Springs) number saying "Good Day. This is Holly Ferguson from Reverion GmbH. Your resume was received and acknowledged by our company and we feel you would be an asset to the company performing Data Entry/Administrative position. Reply once you get this so an interview can be scheduled. Thank you." I then asked what is the pay. They responded with "This is an online Data Entry Representative/Administrative position from home or anywhere of your choice remotely, PT/FT $28.75/hr, Download Telegram Messenger on your PC or Mobile add the Hiring Manager Ms. Christina Schedel her username: @christina_reverionusa for a briefing and interview session. Schedule or start right away by contacting the Hiring Manager on Telegram by making use of her username to search for her. Your reference code is (REV-0147). - Reverion GmbH." What makes this seem so legit is that the company is legit and the people are real. This is a sophisticated scamming operation because it got me, and I'm always on the lookout for scams. I had to do the same damn tasks: new hire package and writing essays. Everything the OP said is word-for-word my exact interviewing and tasking experience. What was super strange to me was that the interview that I had with them lasted all night and into the morning, and I could text them at any time of the day and night they would respond. I'm thinking that they are super-dedicated, but I started to get a hunch when they told me that the check was delayed due to weather conditions. The check that would've came today (Friday) was delayed for tomorrow. That's when I started to do research to see if this is a scam and this story popped up in my search results. So, then I texted them and directly asked them if this is a scam. You might laugh at this response, "Do not let your skepticism alter your charisma for this job, I am giving you my word that you are on the right path and I will not mislead you. You seem to be a wonderful asset to this organization and I am sure that with your faith and increased trust in this organization, we will have a mutual and steady understanding for many years to come as both of us do not know what the beautiful future holds in store." What kind of hiring manager says some [censored] like that? Also, they told me that would provide me with the tracking number tomorrow morning at 8 AM. I guess as a last ditch effort to present a showcase of legitimacy, they provided the tracking number after making that bonkers, cult-like statement. I put the tracking number into the tracker and it's estimated to be delivered by MONDAY! LOLOL! Their response? "That was what UPS updated the delivery date to. I was expecting the package to be delivered to you tomorrow because they used a Next day delivery option."
