A couple of days later we received a phone call from their office in Eureka, MO to confirm our information and said they would be sending an information packet that would include a contract and requests for other information about our timeshare. The packet was received, we completed all information and returned it to them in the prepaid envelope they provided in early May 2023. They confirmed receipt of our signed contract and our check was cashed.
Then I had to keep following up with them to try to track progress. No one ever initiated a call to me. After months of trying to get some answers as to the process, they did read my timeshare contract to confirm those circumstances. Then after many emails and more than 5 months later I was sent a Quit Claim Deed in November 2023. I was told that would be used as a 'last resort' to get rid of my timeshare if their negotiations failed. They did not mail me the form as promised with a paid envelope to return the signed copy. They sent it as an email attachment and we paid our own postage to return the Quit Claim Deed to them. I had to call them to confirm they had received it.
I again pushed for more action in December 2023 because we received our bill for our timeshare maintenance fees due in January 2024. I was told to read my contract, that they had 24 months to complete their contracted obligations, and basically to stop pestering them. In January 2024 they notified me to NOT pay the timeshare maintenance fees for 2024. That was supposed to make the timeshare pay attention to their negotiation attempts. I have no proof that Resort Legal Services ever attempted to contact my timeshare.
At this point I noticed that their 1-800 phone number was discontinued. I sent them an email and was told to use 573-468-0041 for all future phone calls.
Every month since January 2024 our timeshare sent me a letter requesting payment of the maintenance fees and I emailed pictures of each letter to Resort Legal Services. I called them after each email to confirm it was received and then after a couple of months they started to reply to my emails that the attachment was 'added to my file'.
I sent my monthly email in August 2024 and received an email response confirming receipt. When I sent the next email in September 2024, there was no email response. I called the 573-468-0041 number and it disconnected without ringing. I sent another email marked urgent asking about their phone, but there was no response. I sent another urgent email a couple of days later with no reply. Their phone continued to disconnect without ringing.
In early October 2024 the Resort Legal Services website was taken down, the phone now gave the automated message that it was disconnected. Their website has many complaints/reviews about them closing their doors with no notice, lots of people out of a lot of money, still stuck with their timeshares, and hits to their credit rating because of non-payment of maintenance fees.
This company was only in business since June of 2022. At least 1 other client sued them for their failure to honor the contract.
Clearly this was all a scam and I have lost almost $6k.
