When he finally sent me the new itinerary, I saw it was from [email protected], and the penny dropped. He'd reserved me on Delta in a different class, then charged me a "fee" for his services (these were not the taxes). I did have the confirmation number for the Delta flight. I went to Delta.com and was able to cancel the flight, which had actually been booked.
Unfortunately, he had associated his own email address "[email protected]" with the reservation, so I did not receive the email confirming cancelation. All I have is a screen shot of it and a cancel authorization number that doesn't even pop up in Delta's system.
For now, I am out about 3200€.
