I saw an ad on Instagram for "Date with a Book". The seller described the item as being a full novel in the subject of your choice (example: fanatsy) that would be sent wrapped up with items such as pens, stickers, bookmarks, etc. I placed my order expecting to recieve 2 books. After waiting an entire month with no updates from seller, i finally recieved my product and I was shocked to see it came from China, when the original info said it was coming from Oklahoma. I opened the package to find a poorly copied pamphlet of a stollen Nicholas Sparks novel that contained the epiloge of the book and nothing more. The stickers were junk stickers and they strew in a few pieces of string with morning on the string. It was absolute junk and now im fighting to tey and get at least some of my money back. Tnis was a total scam. They tried to say id get a full refund if i ship the pamplets back to China. They clearly know the shipping cost would be more than the product, which is another scam tactic.

The scammer used an unrelated user's tiktok video of someone opening a blind date with a book box. After I ordered the book (I chose Mystery for my genre), I received a tracking email showing the package was coming from Sweden. I continued to receive updates on the package. On January 16, I received an 8"x9" padded envelope from 3646 S Wolcott Ave, Chicago, Illinois, containing a highlighter, a piece of string, a bookmark, sticky tabs, some stickers, and a 20-25 page pamphlet copy of "The Guardian" by Nicholas Sparks. I tried contacting the scammer for a refund. They initially claimed that I received what I ordered and eventually offered a $3 refund. When I refused this, they stopped communication. Then I tried to get a refund through PayPal. They again offered a small refund ($5). When I refused that offer, they stated I could get a full refund if I sent the package to China. I currently have a dispute filed with my credit card company in another attempt to receive a refund. This company is charging $30 for the "blind date with a book" plus additional charges for shipping and sales tax. When the customer is not satisfied with the package, they offer a small refund. When that is refused, they offer a full refund only if the customer sends the package to China when that is not where the company claims to be located (I have seen people say they have received packages from Ohio; mine came from Illinois). Sending a package to China would cost at least the same as, if not more than, the amount they would be refunding.

The shipping is fake: Core Business

Enterprise Advantage. Said it shipped from Italy. The package also showed UPS shipping from an Amazon warehouse in WA and then it went to OH. Blind Date with a Book. You get a pamphlet book of a few pages of a pirated Nicholas Sparks book, some stickers, paper bookmark, string, highlighter and post-it flags. I might add they have the same fake product on Amazon. I have a dispute with PayPal.
