I called to cancel a reservation. No representatives were available (waited on hold for over an hour) therefore had to cancel online and they charged me saying it was because I was out of the timeframe and because I canceled online.

I am writing to formally report a distressing and financially devastating situation that occurred in connection with a recent trip I booked through Expedia. I was the victim of a scam perpetrated by a fraudulent company impersonating Expedia, and due to a combination of apparent system failures on Expedia’s part — including a cancelled flight, missing itinerary information, and lack of accessible customer service — I was left vulnerable and incurred nearly $3,000 in unnecessary charges.

Here is what happened:

Prior to my trip to Barbados, I noticed that my itinerary had disappeared from the Expedia app, with a message stating “no upcoming trips.” Concerned, I attempted to contact Expedia through the app, but there was no visible phone number, and even the chat assistant failed to provide one. Desperate for help, I searched for a customer service number online and was unknowingly directed to a fraudulent company that was impersonating Expedia.

Shockingly, this fraudulent company had access to my personal trip details, including flight and hotel information, which made them appear legitimate. They told me my flights were on standby, that my trip was nonrefundable, and that I needed to cancel and rebook immediately to avoid losing the entire reservation. Under pressure and convinced of their authenticity, I followed their instructions and repurchased flights and hotel accommodations, which resulted in a loss of almost $3,000

I later contacted Accra Beach Hotel directly and learned that they only had my original reservation — the one I had booked through Expedia. At that point, I was finally able to connect with a real Expedia representative, who confirmed I had been scammed. They reassured me that my original trip was intact and successfully restored my outbound flight to Barbados.

However, once I arrived in Barbados, I discovered that my return flight with American Airlines had been cancelled. When I contacted American Airlines, they informed me that since the ticket was marked as nonrefundable — even though it was cancelled by the fraudulent party — they would only issue a partial credit, further compounding my financial loss. I had to buy additional tickets costing $1500

This situation has caused extreme emotional distress, financial hardship, and significant anxiety. I trusted that Expedia, as a major travel platform, would safeguard my trip information, provide accessible customer service, and notify me of any changes. Instead, I was left in the dark and misled by scammers who had access to my sensitive travel details — something that should never have happened.

To summarize, this situation resulted in:

• Nearly $3,000 in unnecessary rebooking charges

• A cancelled return flight

• Emotional trauma, stress, and lost time while trying to fix the situation

• Inadequate support from Expedia at a time I needed it most

• Potential compromise of my travel data by third parties

I believe Expedia bears partial responsibility for the financial and emotional damages caused by this incident, due to the combination of system errors, lack of support access, and apparent data vulnerabilities.

I respectfully request that Expedia:

1. Launch an immediate investigation into how my trip data was accessed and misused

2. Improve support access, including displaying a visible customer service number in the app

3. Fully reimburse me for the nearly $3,000 in costs incurred due to fraudulent rebooking of flights and hotel

4. Assist in resolving the issue with American Airlines regarding my cancelled return flight

I am prepared to provide full documentation, including screenshots, receipts, charge records, and communications with both legitimate and fraudulent contacts.

Called to book hotel through website and caller took name/address/credit card/email and then when reservation did not come through they hung up.

Reservationdesk.com duplicated the Westin Oaks website and when you click to make reservations it takes you to the reservationdesk.com site and not the Marriott site. I assumed that the Westin Oaks was using this site to make their reservations. I made the reservations then called the hotel to verify as I was to be placed in a convention block of rooms. They said they could not make the arrangements since I booked through a third party. I explained that I booked through their website but they informed me their website goes directly to a Marriott booking site. I immediately canceled my reservation online and to check my bank account. The transaction had already took place. I notified my bank of the scam and cited the posts about fraud by others concerning reservationdesk.com

Booking a room at Best Western Knoxville Suites. I booked a room and realized I had picked the wrong weekend. I went back to manage reservation and changed to the correct dates. When I hit book is changed back to the original incorrect dates. I tried to correct is several times, 4 attempts at correcting the dates but their system kept changing back to bad dates once I hit book. All within about 20 minutes or so. I finally got frustrated and just cancelled. I called the number on the reservation and they say non refundable. Why would I book the same room for the same incorrect weekend 5 times in a row. Their system kept changing the booking dates back once I hit book. Called them and they simply said non-refundable. On the booking page there is no mention of non refundable cancellation. You have to click on the cancellation policy. I thought consumers were protected from practices like this. Literally within 20 minutes they want to charge me $809.71 and no reservation. Criminal!!!

I did an online search for a hotel to make a reservation, and the phone number that came up took me to Reservation Desk. It seemed like a hotel booking call center, but I thought maybe the hotel had contracted out their reservation service. It wasn't until they wanted me to pay the full amount up front that I saw the red flags and told them to cancel the reservation. I gave them my credit card information but then told them I didn't want the reservation anymore. I don't know if they will try to charge me anyway.

I am being told I cannot have a refund and cancel my reservation. The flight purchased was $211. And I paid $598.98. Reservation desk will not refund my money.

The business is a third party who when you make a reservation for the hotel you go through I unknowingly used them while trying to book. a hotel room and when I had to cancel my reservation days before my reservation. I was told they do not refund any funds. Even though I didn't stay at hotel.

They charged me for a hotel room but there was not a reservation there. But charged me a booking fee for no booking
