I toured a house after looking online and finding a property I liked for rent. Called the number on the sign at the front of the house. The person who answered helped me to get a code to tour. I looked inside, liked it and he followed up by asking what my age was, who would be living there, simple questions. He sent me an email with the lease agreement for me to look over. Next day I contacted him via phone and he said per lease agreement $1500 security deposit. $1000 rent. Went to bank and withdrew funds to deposit into bitcoin phone # (773)773-8444. He authorized my occupancy per the payment. He told me once I move in I must pay $750 to utilities so he can have it paid 2 months and transfered to my name. Repeated process. About a week later, already on property and living there he contacted me about hoa fees of $350 which I then paid. Later, AM4R sent me a notice to vacate when they sent a surveyor who discovered my presence on the property. Completed a police report and then did some investigating and found scammer. Contacted and confirmed it is indeed him. His name is Gerard B. Fleurantin. I find it suspicious he was able to answer the phone on the sign and link it somehow when it is an automated line, as well as provide details like the codes and other information. I am concerned that he will do this again and am confident it is indeed this individual who performed the scam.
