To join her waitlist, she asked me to send a $100 payment via Venmo. Later, once she claimed a kitten had been born, she requested a $600 security deposit—half the total cost of the cat—which I sent via Zelle. Although I was initially hesitant to send the money, she shared various personal stories, such as being recently robbed or mistreated by her boyfriend, and said she needed the money to take the kitten to the vet and provide proper care.
Throughout our interactions, my husband and I regularly reached out for updates, photos, and to schedule a FaceTime call to see the kitten—something she had originally offered. However, her responses were slow and inconsistent, often taking several days or up to a week. In total, she only sent us two photos, and she repeatedly ignored our requests to FaceTime.
She told us the kitten would be ready for pickup by May or early June. But as May approached and I reached out for updates and preparation instructions, her communication stopped entirely. Despite multiple calls and messages from both my husband and me, we received no response.
Still hoping for a reply, we waited, but after a month of complete silence, we grew suspicious. To test the situation, I had a friend submit the same application through Jaelyn’s website. The next day, my friend received a text from Jaelyn using the same phone number. This is the text she sent to my friend:
"Hi there! My name is Jaelyn from Remington's Ragdolls. I'm thrilled to inform you that your adoption application has been approved!
We currently have a litter of kittens born on May 2, 2025, that are ready for adoption in July. There are five adorable kittens to choose from: a male flame point kitten, two male seal point kittens, and two blue point kittens (one female and one male).
These kittens are incredibly sweet, outgoing, and friendly to dogs.
They're all TICA-registered, vaccinated, and litter-trained.
Let me know if you're interested in adopting one of these kittens, or if you'd like to be added to our waiting list for future litters."
This is how we confirmed she scammed me.
