I had canceled a flight flight without receiving a refund or points, so I called what I thought was American Airlines to see if there’s anything that could be done. I was told if I upgraded my ticket to business class, I could then cancel for a full refund, because only business class can receive four refunds. I was told I would have to make a payment for $1600, and then it would immediately be refunded along with the additional $400 that was spent for the original plane ticket. The following day, there was an alert with the credit card company, and it turns out the person I spoke to was in fact a scammer by then called American Airlines and spoke to a real customer service representative, and was told they had no information on a new ticket being purchased with them or any payments.
