Red Umbrella Holidays Allegiant Air Flights
Book Flight Tickets with Allegiant Air and enjoy Price Match Promise, Best-Offered Deals and Dedicated Travel As...
Allegiant Flight Tickets. One of our return flight tickets was unable to check in on-line via official Allegiant website which stated to go to ticket desk upon arrival at terminal. I was adamant about talking with an Allegiant representative via phone. I did a quick google search on Android cell phone for Allegiant help number and saw a banner with Allegiant and stating "quick" answering. Yes they answered within 5 rings.
Hindi (India) accent male voice answered the phone with a lot of background chatter. They asked for all typical ticket confirmation information including name, and confirmed all information they saw and confirmed there is a problem. They likely logged in the same way I could have done on the Allegiant website to confirm Itinerary.
The person, male, proceeded to state that due to some reason that when we already purchased the tickets two+ weeks prior, that prices have just increased since then, hence need to pay an extra $150 and the ticket will be reissued. This person elicited my debit card info including email and phone number associated, and I gave him ALL. He put me on hold while he was coordinating the ticket purchase,,,, did this a couple of times. Then after another few minutes he came back and said that the card was declined and that a verification code was coming to me and to tell him what it is,,,, and thankfully at that time I told him, it sounds like he's buying me another whole ticket which is already paid for, so I told him, no thanks, I'm done. He stated, ok, but your risking not getting your seat at the counter, and I replied with ok we'll see at the terminal.
No hateful tones other than the confusing banter which makes a person, victim, feel overwhelmed with information overload until relenting to "fine", just do it.
In short order I indeed received text messages from my bank fraud department stating that an unauthorized debit was attempted and to call their number if suspicious. The attempt was for $53.15 and $150.00 and $2.50. All declined according to my Bank customer service,,, so yaY bank!! I since then closed the debit card to get another reissued.
I think what may have happened is that a popup showed on the screen above a legit, maybe, Red Umbrella Holidays travel website. When relooked at the "real" website, it displays a phone number 1-833-914-2482. The number I called on the popup banner on my cell phone had the last digit different with a "7" as in 1-833-914-248 "7". I did not think to close the "x" on the typical ad banners. They almost got me. I hope the info I gave a way does not still leave a huge target. I'll definitely look into my ssn to be secured too.
Tried to upload a screenshot of the popup but doesnt look like this site is allowing it. Tried jpg, png, pdf, doc. Ok,, finally 4th time with pdf it worked. Geez,, as I type this I saw how dumb I am. i usually pick up on these banners and "x" out of them right away. I hate scammers!!
