I attempted to buy a part for a firearm, specifically a FRT trigger. I researched a company called Rarebreed TriggersCompany. After some finagling, I got a phone number and begin texting. When I paid for it, I was given another phone number with the name. VAPRIA ADAMS... I was expecting that she was the wife of the owner or something to that effect. She told me that they couldn’t accept credit cards at that time and could only accept Zelle. Which I have used. She insisted to just send it to her number. She did not offer to send a request through Zelle to me, however. I had to just make up a send request on my own. Subsequently, I began to feel like something wasn’t right, and I questioned her. She assured me that they were a reputable company and had been in business for 10 years, which I found to be true on the Internet. I figured they couldn’t take money through a credit card because of the past court problems they’ve had. So I agreed and sent her the money and told her where to ship it. She assured me that it would be at my location before May 13. Of 2025. After I had not received it I went online and did a search for rare breed again and found a different website where there was a video warning about many many websites posing as rare breed. It was then I knew I had been duped.

I am usually very suspicious of people even without having not any reason to be, but the website seemed too perfect. There was no misspelling of words or use of bad grammar, etc. none of the things that would be a dead giveaway. I called the number that I had been texting to and two people picked up, but the reception was terrible. It almost seemed like it could not be a phone system located in this country. Then I looked up the number of Mrs. Adams, where she used a different phone number for her Zelle account. I called that number she picked up, but never said anything. I warned her that if she didn’t call me back that I would be reporting this to the FBI.
