Got this yesterday, I look everything up, Why can't this be stopped,

- Cleveland, OH, USA • Feb 14, 2024

Pretending to be a process server- said he as a government employee. And he was collecting money from an old debt. He said that if I pay, he could keep legal action from happening. This person has also called my relatives. I've already done my due diligence. This is a scam.

I received a letter from the "Processing Center, PO Box 29044, Phoenix, Az 85038-8958 address also. I almost mailed it. But decided to do everything with a local company. I also will take my daughter with me to make sure that she knows what is going on and what was decided. I have also received phone calls saying that I owe money on "credit cards. I don't use them anymore. I paid them off and cut up the cards. There are all kinds of scams out there, I've had fraud calls and letters sent to me saying that I owe money. I don't buy anything over the internet or through the mail if I can find it locally. It has made my life simpler and I don't get scammed. I also received a call about the warranty on my car running out and that they could help me with that. You can report these calls to the Federal Trade Commission and they will investigate them. I've been told that if you don't know the phone number of the call you are getting: don't answer, or if you do answer and they ask you a question that you may answer with a "YES" hangup. It has something to do with them recording your "YES" and using it to commit fraud. Please be careful.

I received an out-of-state check for hundreds of dollars.

There is no reason I would receive such a check and will NOT cash it.

They used the name of an ultramarathon runner who lives on the other side of the country.

Voicemail transcript:

“ Hello this is Maddie with the processing center I'm calling today because I'm looking at your most recent reported income for your federal student loan and I think you might actually qualify for forgiveness program which can possibly forgive all or a portion of your loans but we need to submit an application as soon as possible it's urgent that you return my call today if you could please call 1-800-710-2436 to complete your application and finalize your enrollment as soon as possible again the number is 1-800-710-2436”

Received a message from the Processing Center that there was an error on my tax return and that they could help with loan forgiveness of a federal student loan. I knew right away this was a scam….

If you are retired, disabled, or a veteran beware of this mail titled:

FUNERAL ADVANTAGE PROGRAM ASSISTS SENIORS

This claims you can get $20,000 tax free burial cash. There is no company name or phone number. Yet they have my name address to continually mail these solicitations none stop. I would advise you to throw it away. Don’t mail it back. I assume they will file a claim on you or something else. Or continue mailing ask for more info and money.

My mother is 76 years old. She has been thinking about her passing, especially now that Covid 19 is wreaking havoc across the world, especially here in the USA. She made a mistake. She filled out a card asking for contact information.

One day, an older guy parked in my driveway and exited his car with a pink piece of paper, knocked on my door, and requested to see my mother (called her by her first name). She hadn't warned me there would be someone arriving at my home for an appointment, nor was she awake to receive him; it immediately made me suspicious. I asked this person to leave information for her. He did not, nor did he identify the company he was representing and acted like he was the one offended. He was told to leave.

I informed her of this occurrence and she made a phone call to the company she thought she responded to; the company denied making the appointment and placed responsibility on the field agent, saying "sometimes they just visit homes on their own".

I thought that was the end of it.

A few days ago, a blue BMW parked on my grass and a younger blonde guy maybe in his late 30's to early 40's, about 5'9", knocked on my door. Again this visit was completely unexpected; he w[censored]ding a pink piece of paper. Again, he wanted to talk to my mother, called her by her first name (disrespectful!). Note: I have a doorbell. This individual opened my storm door to knock on my inside front door- no mask, no gloves. When I told him that they had been contacted by my mother to not just arrive without a scheduled appointment, he stated he was an independent contractor and that it didn't matter, he had (mumble) a 2 year window. I told him that I was not going to get my mother for him, that he could leave the information he had. That is when he smugly and rudely held up the card, saying, "That's your mother's handwriting, isn't it?" He didn't hold it up long enough for me to see- he left it on my front door, held by the weatherstrip. I asked him why he was touching my property without gloves and not wearing a mask. He pulled a mask out of his pocket and dangled it. I told him that touching my property was not appreciated during this pandemic, to which he replied, " I don't have Covid." I asked him how would I know that, it could be all over him and asked, "And you want to see my vulnerable Mom?" He, at that, turned around and left my property. My "BYE" made it expressly clear he was not invited or wanted on my property.

Now, in retrospect, I wonder why he felt it necessary to open my storm door- is it because if my elderly mother answered the door he could force his way in to obtain information that he could then use to rip her off?

The card he left had her handwriting on it, indeed, but there are no company identifiers and no contact us information. This card is identical to a yellow one posted online ( about the same scam in 2017; only the state name and year is different- please look up this address: https://doorcoutypulse.com/funeral-expense-mailer-may-scam/ ). In tiny, tiny print that no senior can see without a microscope, it states "Not affiliated or endorsed by any government agency." My mother stated that when she received the mailing, it looked to her like it came from the State. She is not a dumb person, either- her skepticism was not triggered, which is what they are counting on. What legitimate company provides no "contact us" information to prospective customers?

Last evening, 28 July 2020, my mother brought me another mailer. This one is similar, promising up to 20 thousand in covered expenses instead of the 35 thousand. It is a full page which includes a perforated, detachable area at the bottom which has her information prefilled in type with blank areas for telephone number and age. There is a box that would accept a check or an "X" that is next to the statement, " Please see that I receive the final expense plan information that I requested as soon as possible."

The body of the letter is as follows:

"Dear (her name),

RE: Funeral Advantage Program Assists Seniors

We are pleased to announce: You may qualify for the Funeral Advantage Program that will pay your family in the event of your death an insurance cash benefit up to $20,000.00 TAX FREE. Many TEXAS residents age 45-80 have already been accepted for this program- created to help pay for one's funeral and any other final expenses.

To see if you qualify, mail this postage- paid card today. Requests made after 15 days may not be processed. Currently, you may qualify even if you have a health condition.

"

There is a reference number, state, county entries on the R side of this white and red card, along with SCF: 765. Below this it states OFFICE USE ONLY.

On the R side of the text body, there are the words, MAIL TODAY There is no charge for this information inside of a banner- shaped flag that points down to a square. Inside that square it states, FUNERAL ADVANTAGE with the symbol of an eagle inside a circle.

With this paper is a postage free envelope which reads:

BUSINESS REPLY MAIL

FIRST CLASS MAIL PERMIT NO. 6015 PHOENIX, AZ

(All of this inside a rectangle)

POSTAGE WILL BE PAID BY ADDRESSEE appears below the rectangle.

I am not sure if the two are the same mailer "companies" but there are scams targeting elderly people and you need to be extremely wary. This is an extreme disservice to our country's elders and risks every single one of them to Covid exposure, if not home invasion.

It should be placed in a national spotlight so our seniors are not still forced to endure this type of predation.

As for me, I will return the mailer myself. I will block my mother's information and include my opinion of them ( vampiric and predatory) instead. There's a postage paid envelope just begging to be returned. It is outrageous, and the violation of my mother extends to me. She is lucky she lives with me and not being victimized right now.

The next scammer foolish enough to show up on my property will find the police that I called behind them.

I tried to send an image from my phone to my computer but this format makes a transfer too difficult; I would have to send it separately; if I did, I am not sure the two would be immediately associated with one another.

I received several calls and my sister received a call as well saying they needed to confirm my address and that I would be home to receive the delivery of legal documents. When I inquired as to what complaints and what documents, the lady says she does not have full access to my account. I told her no, and hung up, she then called my sister with the same story. This happened last year as well, but I told the lady she was a scammer and to never call me again, which she did not and nothing ever came.

Not sure of where they are located because I refuse to call the back after the threating message that was left on my phone. They state they have a pending matter and since they are not able to contact you by phone they will actively be contacting your through place of employment or home.

They say they will consolidate my loans. The first time I called, I was under the impression that I was speaking with my student loan Company, Great Lakes. When I talked to the guy I asked if they know about private companies consolidating loans and the man said they can consolidate. I asked if this is Great Lakes and he said yes. After giving them information while under the impression that they were my loan company, I find out they weren't. After a week, I called my actual loan company and they told me that they have no history of me calling them consolidating loans because thats not something they can do. So I called Processing Center company back and asked them "Is this the Great Lakes Loan Company" and the lady kept bouncing around the answer. Finally after asking three times, she said no. I immediately canceled my deal with them. Hopefully they abide by it and not use my information anyway. Please use security passwords for government institutions that concern your banks, loans, or any other provate affairs.

My husband and I recieved a call from the number above stating that he owed on a payday loan from years ago and stated that if he did not pay 1000.00, there would be a warrent for his arrest and his drivers license would be revoked. They read of our entire credit history, address history, socials in an attempt to convince us the debt was real. They refused to provide us a real name or any details about the debt.

Caller was telling me that my warranty was almost up on my truck and they wanted to know if I wanted to talk to someone about an extended warranty. When I said yes the phone was disconnected right away!

You see on Facebook Obama's repayment program for student loans and when you click on the app it will prompt you to enter your information then someone will call you about it. They review your student loans and tell you the government will write off a dollar amount. They are abusing the teacher write off program that is in place at this time. So after they tell you how much will be written off you pay a set amount to start the program and the lower monthly payment that you will pay for the next 30 years.

It doesn't,t have a zip code comes from nertherlands
