Before doing business with these guys, go to their facebook page and click on a link to look at one of their cars. It links to a real car dealership on the West coast with a similar name. If you want that car, you better call them direct because ShiftAutoBrokers does not exist, except as a scam bank account where you can send your money.

Just finished purchasing my first automobile from these guys (I'm a 21 y/o college student); I never thought buying a car would be so easy.

The whole process was quick and painless compared to what I'd imagine I would've endured at a dealership. I applied for financing on one vehicle I initially requested to test drive, and even when I decided TWICE to change what car I wanted to test drive, I didn't have to repeat the financing process again or go through any extra headaches (although the cars were all in a similar price range). Not to mention the fact they'll bring the vehicle to your house for the test drive, with the exception being electric cars. Oh, did I mention they also handle all everything with the DMV as well?

Kelvin Chen was my representative, he arrived right on time for the test drive and just let me hop straight in the driver's seat. We obviously had to spend a good chunk of time doing some paperwork afterwards, but I never felt like he was pressuring me to buy the car or sign anything unless I truly wanted the vehicle. Signing a bunch of documents is never fun but Kelvin made the whole process as quick as he could and also quite painless. He was professional and extremely patient with me as I gathered all the forms I needed for the purchase.

TLDR (Buyer's Perspective); Quick and easy process to schedule a test drive and I had the keys to my new car in a matter of 2 hours or so from Kelvin's arrival.

Notice how the rear license plate says SHIFT. That is the logo of a car dealership on the West Coast. A real dealership. Again, a real dealership, not a fake web site designed to get you to send your money to places unknown.

SCAM ALERT I agreed to buy a car, Shift Auto Brokers was to broker the deal. I paid for the car via a wire to their bank, and Shift was to ship the car to my address. But the car never arrived. It was to be delivered on a Thursday, then mysteriously delayed 24 hours to late Friday. By the time banks opened on Monday, it was too late to reverse the wire. Since the delivery date, Shift Auto Brokers doesn't answer the phone and they don’t respond to emails. There is no way to contact them. They have no physical presence at their address. Their phone number is a VOIP, so I am likely calling someone in a different country even though it looks like a Michigan number. They are not rated by the BBB and the BBB was unable to locate them. They have no business licenses. Based on my experience and research, I have concluded this company is a clever online wire fraud Scam.

The service they offered is sooooo awesome. I bought a used Mercedes-Benz GLC300 from them, Daniel (Sales) and Harry (Finance) are so helpful and made my whole buying experience great.
I hate buying cars because of the price negotiation game plus back and forth of bank/dealer. However, Daniel and Harry not only gave me a great price, but also let me finance with my own bank and drive away that car at the same day ( just with some paperworks which is about 1 hour or so). I wasn't expect driving away the car without paying a penny at that day. I thought I will get the paperwork done and then go to my bank to get the check, so I can give them money and they give me the car in a week or something like that. No, Daniel and Harry were so fantastic, they said, why not drive away the car today. WHAT? yes, Harry said, and he said I have a good credit, so I will get the money from my bank anyway, why does he need to worry. Just take the car today and give back the check to him next day.
(plus they didn't run my credit, but did a soft pull with my driver licence which I appreciate so much, I had other dealer insist to do a hard pull of my credit even though I don't finance through them)

I wasn't expect my car buying process will be so smooth, but Daniel and Harry made it like buying a ice cream from a store. I was smiling the whole time, plus they both are very entertaining which made the process even better. If I am going to buy another car, I will definitely go check with SHIFT Auto Brokers first. Thanks Daniel and Harry!

There is no Daniel or Harry. There is nobody. Go to their address, it is a vacant office building. Go there and call Daniel or Harry and ask for directions, they will hang up on you.

I didn't end up buying the car I was looking at here due to it simply not being what I ended up wanting out of a car, but I had nothing but a positive experience coming in and test driving with Von, the rep that helped me out. They were very communicative with me from my first inquiry and were very welcoming when I came in. I appreciate Von giving me a no-hassle test drive - he let me have fun with the car to see if I could really enjoy it within its limits without giving me a hard time or trying to pressure me into a sale. All in all I would definitely feel comfortable purchasing with these folk, they seem like an honest bunch who know what they're doing - the s2000 I tested was a steal, but unfortunately just not what I'm looking for at the moment. Hope someone cops it!

Go ahead, try to go to the address to test drive a car. You will never find them. Google the address, they aren't there. Call someone in the building and ask about ShiftAutoBrokers, they won't have clue what you are talking about. These people don't exist except as an online presence, probably operating out of a foreign country. Send them your money, see what you get in return.

They took my money and never delivered the car as promised. It appears to be an online wire fraud scam. My research indicate they are or have done business as Sportexotics.com, Shift Auto Brokers, Pro Motors Depot, SE Motors group, SE Motors Brokers. Probably more. I think it is a SCAM

Great buying experience, maybe the best I ever had. To start off I would say this is the most welcoming and easy going dealership I have ever been to and I bought dozens of cars in the past!
Andrew was my salesman and Melissa was in finance and running the whole place were just AMAZING!
I don't have a perfect credit at the moment and Peter got me approved without any problem for a 16 E class.
Andrew made the atmosphere at the dealership felling like home.
Thank you guys and you have a customer for life!

I have been trying to find my dream Mercedes for a few months now, even went as far as going back home to Dallas to try and find one but had no luck. I originally found a car I really liked on FB from SHIFT Auto Brokers and I called right away. I scheduled an appointment for the next day (which was yesterday) and everyone was so nice and willing to help me. Peter, Andrew, and Michael made this process so easy for me. They got me into an E400 coupe which I didn't even think was possible to get into but they made it happen. After a few hours of being there, I signed my paperwork. I can't thank these guys enough for making this happen. I will forever be a customer of theirs and will go nowhere else for any future cars. THANK YOU AGAIN for everything guys!

I was hosted by Daniel and Andrew two weeks ago when I try to purchase a used Macan. Both are very nice and professional. Daniel is really nice and he is a life saver. He helped me get the payment done in Sunday when the banks are all closed. And I was able to drive the car back home the same day. Andrew get me a unbeatable price that I don't think u can find anywhere. He clearly knows what he is doing and he was very approachable.

I was looking for a used Range Rover and ended up buying a gorgeous Maserati with only 19,000 miles on it. I absolutely LOVE MY NEW CAR and had one of the best car buying experiences I've had in a very long time. In fact this is the first time in 20 years I've been excited about a car. I took the Maz out of town for the weekend last weekend and drove it to the bay area, was a fun trip, and the new car made it even better.
If you want a great deal go see Daniel at SHIFT Auto Brokers, they will take excellent care of you same as they did me. Tell them you saw my review and you want the same deal I got because I swear every time I get in this car I feel like a car thief. Without telling you exactly how much I paid let's just say I paid less than I would for a brand new Honda Accord, and got a great loan too! THANK YOU Daniel and everyone, I WILL refer you more clients!
Happy Maserati Owner

Michael was professional, honest & great to work with! I had looked at several Mercedes GLE before finding the best value and no haggling from Michael. He is very responsive and just wants to help you find the right car for you. He didn't try to convince me of any other options but willingly showed me any car on his lot(s) ..he has more vehicles than fit on the lot so be sure you go in and talk to him.
I will recommend SHIFT Auto Brokers Cars to all my friends. He continues to take car of your needs after the sale. I wanted a second set of keys and he's now helping get them at cost for me even though its been months since I purchased from him.
Thank you Michael!

HANDS DOWN the BEST dealer I've ever purchased a car from!
After nearly a week of trying to get an approval and going back and forth with another dealer to get into a Maserati Ghibli I said enough is enough!
I called Iman and Harry at SHIFT Auto Brokers and said
"Iman I need your help badly, I need a Maserati and another dealer is putting me through HELL"
He said "I'm here waiting for you"
I got in my car, drive to SHIFT Auto Brokers, no joke within thirty minutes I test drove the car got an approval signed my paperwork and I was out the door with a Maserati Ghibli.
Straight to the point no BS.

If you're tired of getting robbed and givin' the run around, seriously go ask for Iman. I would not steer you in the wrong direction.

By the way, my credit is far from perfect.
Yet still, I told Iman this is what I'm comfortable with paying and that's what he made happen for me.

Thank you again

I recently bought a Range Rover hse here. I have to say my experience here was a breeze. Let me start out by thanking Iman who did a great job. I decided to work with my credit union for financing but he worked directly with them and provided them with all the information they needed almost instantly. I want to say that he took great care of me. He even followed up with me after a few days of buying the car just to make sure I was happy with my purchase and if I had any questions about the car. They handle alot of upscale vehicles like Land Rovers, Mercedes, Maserati, Bmws, and I even saw a Rolls Royce there. They know their cars and know how to cater to their guests. I will be recommending them to my freinds and family for future purchases. Ask for Michael!

I found this article useful, read this before you deal on craiglist:

Auto Dealer Loan Kickbacks

Unscrupulous car dealerships can’t wait to pick your pocket

One of the auto industry’s dirty little tricks is the practice of lenders giving kickbacks to dealers for charging high interest rates for the car loans. A good example of this would be when a buyer has been qualified for an 8% loan rate, the dealer can, and will in most cases, attempt to charge a higher rate.

Many dealers will tell you they have a 12% rate available (a lot of consumers do not know better) and will jump at the deal just to get credit and drive away in a new or used car. Your $20,000.00 automobile over a 60 month period would have had a $433.56 payment at an 8% rate but now because you signed your loan agreement for a 12% rate you payment will be $475.64. Guess who get the extra $42.09 per month? You guessed right, the dealer who suckered you into the additional rate of interest.

Image of used car salesman

To get the best possible deal on a new or used car or truck, knowledge and information is your best bet. Knowledge is always power in these cases. Dealer scams such as the increased interest rate, packed payments and other common little tricks can quickly remove any savings that you thought you were receiving. Learn how to calculate you own monthly payments, use the internet to your advantage and learn how to negotiate with dealers.
Packed or loaded payments

This is one of the oldest tricks in the book. When a dealer “loads” your payment you are literally being ripped off. Here’s how it works: You ask how much the monthly payment will be on a certain automobile and the salesperson will quote you either a slighly higher APR or loan amount. It might not be much but if the actual loan payment should be $325 a month and their mathematical shenanigans push it up to $365.00 that could end up costing you an additional $2300 on a typical 60 month car loan. It doesn’t seem like a small amount anymore does it? It’s a very difficult scam to detect unless you go into the dealership with your homework completed. Before you go into a dealership, gather all of the pricing information on the cars you’re interested in so you know what the payments should be. An informed consumer is a lot harder to fool than an uninformed car buyer. This is no guarantee you won’t be ripped off but your odds will be a lot better.

On the other hand, if you agree to this packed loan payment without comment the dealer will attempt to boost the final price again and again and again. If you’re not prepared for what can happen at each step of the car buying process a salesperson will use every trick in the book to separatate you from your money. As you work your way towards a final deal you’ll be offered high price items like extened warranties, undercoating and clear coat paint layers. If you’re not careful you’ll end up paying extra for items added to the car at the factory!
Auto Dealership Lease Scams

Sometimes car dealerships make more money leasing cars than selling them. Pushing cars out the door isn’t always enough. Margins are tight and profits are slim so some dealerships do their best to herd car buyers towards a leasing option. One way car dealers trick people into leasing is by quoting new cars at prices so highly inflated that the leasing option appears to be a better deal. The money you save if you fall for this is only an illusion. In reality you’ll pay far more to lease a vehicle than purchase it. Here’s another example that shows how doing your homework beforehand can save you a ton of cash at a car dealership. We can’t say enough about doing your due diligence and research all of the competitive rates on car loans, leases and prices of vehicles before you set foot on a dealer’s lot.
Top Frauds and Scams

Read more about car leasing scams
Car Dealership Extended Warranty Scams

One of the huge moneymakers of all time for car dealers is the ability to sell extended warranties. Most consumers have no idea how much profit there is on specific add on deal that the dealers try to sell them. Extended warranties are available though factory sources or from totally worthless sources and outlandish prices. All of these tactics are aimed at one thing only, “higher profits” for the dealers.
Auto Dealer Prep Fees

This is an old trick of the trade. It allows the dealer to pick up a quick profit anywhere from $500.00 to $1200.00 in a hurry. Some manufacturers had already paid the dealers for new car prep work. Hmmmmm, most people do not know this and are duped into paying it again. This is pure rip-off profit for the car dealer, do not fall for this scam. Knowledge is power in this case.

Read more about prep fee scams
Do your Research before you purchase a car from a dealership

If you rely on the internet too much you may be missing the boat. You will need to do a bit more research than what the World Wide Web has to offer. If you think that all you need to be armed with is the dealer invoice amount that you so diligently down loaded from the internet to get the best price can be sorely mistaken. This is not the same as dealer cost. Another common error is, not knowing the actual prices that other in your area are paying for the same vehicle. If you think that a dealer who belongs to an internet buying service will be giving you the best price in town then think again. Make your research pay for itself. Make sure you visit as many dealers as you can to discuss prices of the same vehicle and make double sure they are the same in engine size and all add on accessories.

It is also a good idea to already have your most recent credit report with you and also make sure you have learned to calculate both loan payment amounts and lease payment amounts.

Another good idea would be to check with other lenders on their rates or even pre-qualify yourself for the best loan you can find before you start visiting you local dealers.
Check on a car’s history before you buy

If you’re buying a new or used car, AutoCheck® or another tracing service can give you a detailed history of the car and alert you to serious problems, such as rolled-back odometers or a salvage title that indicates the vehicle’s been in a serious wreck or damaged by water. You’ll need the car’s vehicle identification number, or VIN, usually found on the left side of the dash or the driver’s side door post. Fpr a small fee you can get a CarFax Report on an unlimited number of vehicles. If you’re out shopping for a new car, this allows you to check on the history of every one you’re interested in. Most car dealers are honest but if you are unlucky enough to find yourself on a crooks lot you could end up driving a lemon home. A quick check on a car’s history before you finalize the purchase can end up saving you a lot of heartache and money.
How to avoid car dealer scams

Don’t visit a car dealership intending to purchase a new or used car until you read our tips on how to avoid car dealer scams. You’ll know what to expect from the sales staff and could end up with a better deal.

Get pre-approved for a car loan before you step on the lot. This can save you a bundle. Odds are you’ll get a better interest rate and having your own financing reduces your chances of getting scammed by a car salesman. If you can’t get a loan, you’ll already know it. If you can get a loan, you’ll know how much you can borrow and this will tell you how much car you can or can’t afford.
Do some research before going to the dealership. Do some research on the web or find another way to gather information about cars you’re interested in. Don’t go to a car dealership with the vague idea of wanting a new car. Choose some makes and models you’re interested in and find out as much as you can about them including:
Total Cost of Ownership – Maintenance, gas mileage, taxes, value depreciation etc. You don’t want to buy a car you can afford to drive off the lot but can’t afford to maintain.
Pricing – If there are a lot of dealerships for you to choose from, find the one with the best deal. This seems obvious enough but many people don’t think about driving 15 minutes across town to save $300. You should also find out the sticker price. This will tell you just how low the salesman is willing to go. If you know that, make an offer, and refuse to budge, chances are the salesman will find a way to make it happen. Their job is to sell cars.
Extras and Options – Know which additional features are offered and which ones you’re interested before you go to the dealership. Don’t let them convince you into adding more than you want or need. Some of them may sound nice to have but they’re not free and can cost you a bundle.
Don’t negotiate based on monthly payments. One of the first questions a car salesman will ask you is, “How much can you afford to pay each month?” This sly question, if you answer it, will determine how much the car ends up costing you. If a car would have cost $300 a month but you let them know you can afford as much as $350, you can bet they’ll find a way to arrange things so that it ends up costing you $350 a month. This is one reason why it’s so important to enter into negotiations with your car loan pre-approved.
Don’t allow your trade-in to influence your new car’s cost. This is one of the many ways car salespeople will try to fool you. If you let them talk about your trade-in in relation to the cost of your new car, they’ll come up with some confusing combination of numbers that will end up costing you more money. An example is giving you a lot more for your trade-in than you’d expected but adding this to the final cost of the car to “get the manager to sign off on the deal.” You end up paying more interest which could end up, over time, eating away the value of your trade-in!
Be willing to walk away. Remember, you’re in the driver’s seat. If you don’t think you’re getting a fair deal or something seems out of whack or you feel you need time to think things over, just get up and go. You don’t have to be impolite, but don’t get pushed or bullied into a bad deal. You might be told that the offer only lasts so long, then so be it. There will be other cars and other offers. Some of them a whole lot better. Cars are expensive and you could end up driving it for yours so take your time and don’t let your emotions get the better of you.

Car Scams

Auto dealerships scams, insurance fraud, car repair ripoffs, salvaged vehicles, towing scams, odometer rollback, curbstoning and car title loans are fleecing consumers that just want an honest deal when purchasing or caring for their cars.

While most car dealerships are honest there are more than a few that will try and trick you into paying more for your car than it’s worth or into financing your auto loan at a higher interest rate than you could. Some of these tread the line between trickery and outright fraud.

A new car is one of the most expensive and important purchases a consumer can make and they are expensive enough without dishonest auto dealers making you pay even more.
Get the Lowdown on Dealership Scams

These pages detail some of the the most common car dealership scams such as “Yo Yo Financing” (AKA Spot Delivery) or the ever-popular Prep Fee Scam. We also have advice and tips our advice on how to avoid these scams. We also take a hard look at some of the auto insurance scams and the practices of the auto insurance companies. You will be shocked to find out some of the methods insurers have developed to scam consumers.
A New Car Scam Every Day

Or at least it seems that way sometimes. Every time they add a new feature to cars, a scam appears to take advantage of it. Airbags are a great example. I can’t wait to see what the scammers dream up for in-dash GPS systems! We’ll deal with that when the day comes. There are plenty of ripoffs to talk about in the present. For example, we have car repair and towing scams to worry about.

We all accept that getting our cars repaired is going to be costly, but who wants insult added to injury by getting scammed in the process? I don’t and I bet you don’t either. That’s why knowing the tricks scammers use is so important. The list of car scams is a big one and growing larger every day. Cars and the services necessary to operate them are expensive and wherever money is involved you will find a con artist waiting to take your money.
Knowledge is Power

Some think driving a car is risky, but you’ll soon discover that purchasing, repairing and insuring your vehicle can be equally dangerous. Cars are expensive to purchase, care for or insure and shysters have come up with many ways to divert your auto budget to their wallets. It’s what they do and they’re really good at it. Even so, all is not lost. If you learn some of the tricks used by con atists your chances of being tricked in the dealer showroom, insurance agent’s office or at the repair shop are reduced considerably.

eBay will release the funds to the Seller only after the Purchaser receives and agrees with the item.

Thank you for using our service!

My experience was a little different.. Found a tractor on facebook marketplace and was invited to join their page and then they asked me to use EBAY Consignment (a website cloned to look like ebay), similar process to pro depot :

rom: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]]

Thanks for getting back! I attached more photos. Nothing needs to be done or changed/repaired.

The tractor is in perfect condition, everything does work as it should with no faults.

I can arrange delivery for £500 or collection next week as I'm away from home. The address for viewings or inspection: Parklands Farm, Reynoldston SA3 1AE

I had it serviced 3 months ago.

If you have any other questions please reply me back.

Yes price includes VAT. As I've told you in my previous email I'm not available this week. I get back home next week on Monday. If you want I can have it delivered at your address or you can come and collect it when I'm back. If you want to buy it payment has to be made now through ebay/paypal, funds will go in to a holding account. You release the funds to me only after you inspect and agree to buy the tractor, otherwise if it's not sold through ebay when I get back home next week you can come to view it and pay for it.
I attached a copy of the V5 so you can see I'm a serious seller and don't want to waste your time or mine.

More details regarding this method of payment: https://www.paypal.com/uk/webapps/mpp/p ... very-terms

Let me know your final decision as I also have someone else very interested.

Had a similar experience with a so called seller "Cindy" who claimed to have a 2006 Fleetwood Tioga 29V on sale. I found the posting on Craigslist and after sending her a few emails she answered that she wants to use some kind of consignment service (not real) from ebay motors services:

here is what she wrote:

From: Cindy T. Stuart

Hello!
I am the owner of the 2006 Fleetwood Tioga 29V. I had it advertised nationwide through Facebook Marketlace. It is still available for sale. It is in great shape. it has no damage, no scratches, dents or hidden defects. It is in immaculate condition, meticulously maintained. It has 79,000 and clean title. It has 6.8L V10 engine, gasoline fuel and automatic transmission. Privacy Curtain, Fantastic Power Roof Vent & Sliding Side Windows, Cabover Bunk Ladder, Driver/Front Passenger Flexsteel® Adjustable/Reclining Suede Bucket Seats W/Armrest, Driver/Front Passenger Airbag Supplemental Restraint System, Custom Dash Appliques. Everything works great, it was recently professionally detailed interior and exterior. I am selling it at this final price of $2,500 because my husband passed away last month and it brings me a lot of bad memories and that’s the reason I want to sell it asap... I also got a new job and moved to Augusta, ME and many other things have priority now so it has to go. I attached you some photos. I want to use eBay Services for both our safety, so if you're interested in purchasing this vehicle just email me your full name, address including the zip code and phone number. I will inform eBay that you are selected as my possible buyer and they will contact you to explain the entire procedure.
I look forward to your answer.
Thank you

Do not fall victim to any consignment or ebay services...usually the persons who try to steal your money are from West Africa so be aware. Hope this will help others because I lost money because I was not informed.

Yep, [email protected] sent me the same email which is below. PLEASE email [email protected], their registrar, to get their site taken down! Prestigeautodepot.com is a SCAM site!

Hi, I just came back in town, had a family emergency. Hope I'm not too late and you are still interested.
All the appliances are in working condition. Was never smoked in, very clean, lots of storage space inside and out. Clean interior, has no unpleasant odors of any kind (i.e.: pet, smoke, musty, etc.). Main floor doesn't show scuffs and blemishes. Carpet are in very good shape. There are no roof leaks of any kind. It is a clean camper, was well taken care of with no issue at all. All the service records and manuals are available. It has a clean and clear title, it's ready for a quick sale. Please check the link below to see the pictures, specifications/description, a summary inspection report, etc.: https://www.prestigeautodepot.com/inventory/560211/
The trailer can be seen at the local PAD warehouse (I suppose you know Prestige Auto Depot). I left it in their lot because I got a great deal on a different one (keeping them both is not an option, have to pay the other soon), and also due to the COVID-19 pandemic I prefer to avoid personal meeting, therefore I have signed a consignment agreement with these guys for its sale. To personally inspect/pick up and pay by cash, all you have to do is to contact PAD and schedule an appointment. All their contact info are available on the website (phone numbers, live chat, office locations, etc.), to the contact us section. Just provide them my name as seller when contacting them and they will provide further assistance.
In case you want to have it shipped, due to my membership with PAD and also because I'm buying the new trailer through them, I've received a gift voucher and shipping up to 500 miles is free of charge (over, extra fees will apply, $1.15 per mile). If this option suits to your needs, then all you have to do, is to go on the website to buyer registration page and request the purchase. Just fill out the requested information on that page and, within maximum 24 hours, an invoice regarding the purchase will be issued to you. The invoice should contain detailed information about the transaction, like insurance, shipping process, bill of sale, payment instructions, etc., basically all you need to know about your purchase. That's the essentially online buying process, but I should also mention their pre-delivery inspection you get at delivery and their 7 day money back guarantee that follows, which costs nothing and should give you the chance and time to decide on the trailer, even before I get paid for it. The pre-delivery inspection will have a PAD representative on site who should answer your questions, show you everything works. The trailer was even pre-inspected before being listed for sale and passed their inspection flawlessly.
To end with, the entire purchase process (payment options, shipping, guarantees, return policy, etc.) is described on the website, on the how it works page. Just read this page to better understand the process, I'm sure they do a better job explaining things than I do.
That's all for now, but if you have questions, I'll be more than happy to assist.

Hi,
Last price that I would take for a quick deal is $20200. Can't go under as I'm already selling under the market and all the fees associated with the sale are my responsibility too.
The trailer is placed into PAD storage facility from Syracuse, NY.
Not quite sure where you have seen the trailer because my son and I took the liberty to advertise in many areas, knowing that we have 500 miles covered. If you live more than 500 miles away, extra shipping fees will apply ($1.15/mile).
As I've formerly remarked, to pick up/inspect, you must contact the company and ask for guidance.
All their contact phone numbers are on the website, to the Contact section.
You can also request to inspect the trailer through the Schedule Inspection Appointment application, from the Contact Us page, or simply go on live chat and request further assistance.
Like I've told you before, you will be automatically enrolled in the 7 day money back guarantee program. You can read more about this return policy on the website (7 Day Money Back Guarantee page). More exactly, if the trailer won't be as I've described or as it can be seen in the pictures, PAD will take it back and automatically refund your money, and the cost of having it returned would come out of my pocket, of course.
If you still have concerns or questions regarding the transaction, both options are described on the How It Works page. Check also their FAQ page as there common questions are already answered. It's better to have everything clear before having a transaction started. I am sure that everything will go smoothly and safely because PAD is are a reliable company, a five 5 star company and that because their services are strict, safe and trustful, at the same time. A simple research on the Internet can give a great overview about their services: https://www.google.com/search?ei=elYHX-aKEczItQap7a-QAw&q=Prestige+Auto+Depot+ww... /> To end with, you choose which option suits to your needs, for me both are safe and secure. There are a few more people interested for the trailer and, of course, it will be sold to the first who will will pick it up at the warehouse location or, if opting for shipping, to the first that will register the transaction and pay for it online.
Thank you!

Same Here. Looking for a Bobcat mini excavator and found two on Craigslist nation wide search. One in Oklahoma and one in Texas. After several attempts to contact both, I received this email on the 2006 unit in Oklahoma. When I went to the site and clicked on the link, the 2005 unit from Texas popped up. Also went back one link to just inventory and there was nothing. Did a search in both cities and nothing. Went to just the home page and still no inventory. Started a search for PAD Scams and here we are. So Thank You for this forum, just saved me about $12,000.00.

Here is a copy of my letter.

Hi, I just came back in town, had a family emergency. Hope I'm not too late and you are still interested.
The machine starts and runs like it should, without any issues. It has been checked out from one end to the other. Engine runs excellent, starts, runs well throughout all functions and does not smoke. All the controls are in working order and there aren't any service indicators or warning lights on. Has no mechanical issues or leaks, only normal wear and tear of a used machine. It has been always barn kept. All service records and manuals are available. This is a clean machine, no liens, debts, it's ready for a quick sale. craiglist add for trailer at steep discount. Seller asked for my email and phone and then contacted me directly. email is from a legit business address (hacked?)

Trailer location is very far away and seller has consigned trailer to Prestige Auto Depot. the website looks legit and i filled out the application, she contacted me immediately telling me she was notified. But the messaging on Prestige is a computer generated message and i know its a very sophisticated hack. Price is ridiculously low also.

It appears that the hatchgroup.org goes directly to hatch.com to make it look like this woman is an employee with a large group.

This is a scam and you need to take down Prestige Auto and Hatchgroup.org website ASAP

I also was interesting in a $14,400 John Deere tractor on Craigslist. It was about 8 thousand dollars less than other similar tractors on Craigslist. I reached out to the seller, and he wanted my real email address to discuss the sale. I didn't hear back for a couple weeks, but when I did, the email I received is below. It immediately seem fishy, so I did a bit or research. This group creates fake website like prestigeautodepot.com and fake email domains like hatchgroup.org. When you visit HatchGroup.org, it redirects you to hatch.com making you think it is legit. They get you to wire them money, then eventually delete their current websites, and recreate new ones. Moral of the story: if the deal seems to good to be true, it is.

I was searching for a boat on Providence, Rhode Island’s Craigslist. I contacted the seller through Craigslist's anonymous emails and was responded to. I then gave my email address and the person responded from their personal email. The person's email address appeared to come from a business email ([email protected]). I checked into the Hatch company which is legit so I thought it was legitimate.

Nathan sent me a link to proautodepot.com which he stated was a consignment dealer and Nathan had to advertise it himself and then direct the potential buyer to the consignment site who would handle the actual transaction. Seller explained that he had purchased a different boat and needed to start payments for it soon so that was his reason for selling the boat to us. Seller said he was physically located in North Kingstown, RI and that the boat was in Buffalo, NY which was a distribution point for Pro Auto Depot. The sale of the boat included transport up to 500 miles to the buyer’s location.

We had many emails back and forth concerning boat specifics, about pro auto depot and their process. The company wasn't registered on BBB, but there were over 120 positive testimonies on their sites and other websites giving positive reviews. There even appeared to be news articles which showed interviews with the supposed founders of the company, who both were Harvard Business Alumni. Given this perceived legitimacy, I paid by wire transfer.

I received email alerts every step of the process: when payment was in process, when payment was accepted, when the shipping process was starting. The Bill of Sale was very complete and included the Hull ID and trailer VIN numbers. I contacted Nathan twice asking about trailer hitch size ahead of our 6/30/2020 planned delivery date.

Today, 6/23/2020, I called their toll free number to reschedule delivery to early July and the phone number provided in the Bill of Sale rang through to a number with a Russian or Chinese voicemail on the other end. I called another phone number for them and a man answered who also spoke a foreign language. When I tried to explain that I needed to reschedule, he hung up.

I started to research them more and as of today, 6/23/2020, their website is down and links no longer active. The Craigslist ad has also been removed. I called my bank and made a local police report today.

- Yarmouth Port, MA, USA

Purchase a boat from Pro Auto Deport advertised on Craigslist with a contact name of Jennifer D Parker with and email mail of [email protected]. Funds were wired in the amount of $10523.00 to Chase Bank, 525 Broadway New York, NY Bank number *********, Routing number (wires) 021000021. My bank verified that Chase Bank numbers were valid.

Boat was then scheduled for delivery on 2 June from Buffalo NY. Free delivery up to 500 miles. No call or notification when delivery was not done. Was able to contact someone on the 2nd and they said transport vehicle was in an accident but "no boat damage" and item would be delivered next day. Message on Transaction page the following day said boat WAS damaged and transaction was cancelled and funds would be returned in 3-5 business days. MANY attempts to contact them was fruitless. Contact with Craigslist owner was still on going but was starting to repeat what Transaction tracker was depicting. Follow on emails with owner was not replied to. Messages on Transaction page and from allegedly owner email, began to get poorly written.... then stopped when I continued to try and contact (her???) The Hatch Group appears to be a legitimate business and not sure [email protected] email was also some type of inappropriate use of an business email

- Jacksonville, FL, USA

Do not conduct any transactions with this company. They use a picture of the item you are looking for at a good price on sites like craigslist. Once you email the seller they respond with information directing you to pro auto depot's website stating they are a third party agency assisting in selling. The site looks legit and has approximately 120 testimonies, the "seller" also uses an email address linked to another company name Hatch to make it look even more legit. It is not, they are a scam, the voice mail for the company is now in russian and the site is not found after dealing with them for 2 weeks.

- Atlanta, GA, USA

Purchased van/RV on-line and paid with wire transfer. The Vehicle was never delivered.

- Corunna, MI, USA

This is a very convincing scan. I was searching for a boat on Craigslist. I contacted the seller through Craigslist's anonymous emails and was responded to by the seller who asked for me to send my personal email to have more pictures sent to me. The email reads, "Hi,Your message was in my spam folder, hope I'm not too late. If you are still interested, Please provide me with your email address to send you more photo!! Thank you in advance!" I gave my address and the person responded from their personal email. I person's email address appeared to come from a business email ([email protected]). I checked into the company, which is legit.

Nathan sent me a link to proautodepot.com which he stated was a consignment dealer. This was his first email... "The boat can be seen at the local PAD warehouse (I suppose you know Pro Auto Depot). I left it in their lot because we got a great deal on a different one (keeping them both is not an option, have to pay the other soon), and also due to the COVID-19 pandemic I prefer to avoid personal meeting, therefore we have signed a consignment agreement with these guys for its sale. To personally inspect/pick up and pay by cash, simply contact PAD and schedule an inspection appointment. All their contact options (phone numbers, email addresses, live chat, office locations), are available on the website, to the Contact Us section. Just provide them my name as seller and they will provide further information."

We've had a total of 13 emails back and forth concerning boat specifics, about pro auto depot and their process. In hind sight, I was probably so excited to get a boat I didn't want to see the signs. I went to pay via wire transfer (another red flag) and my bank thought it was fishy. So that night I did 3 hours of research. The company wasn't registered on BBB, but there were many websites giving positive reviews and even what appeared to be news articles which showed interviews with the supposed founders of the company, who both were supposed Harvard Business Alumni. My wife and I decided to continue with the purchase.

I received email alerts every step of the process: when payment was in process, when payment was excepted, when the shipping process (supposedly) was starting. I received a Bill of Sale, all looking legit, complete with HID and trailer VIN numbers. Then delivery day...2 hours before delivery I got an email... "We want to inform You that the delivery for the Item cannot take place on 06/08/2020. Unfortunately, the Company Commercial Truck was crashed by a car on the route on 06/08/2020 - 8:45 AM, and we are now obligated to replace the Truck. This process will delay the delivery of the Item with up to 1 (one) Business Day. Consequently, the delivery of the Item will be delayed until 06/09/2020 - 3:00 PM...Note: There is no damage on the purchased Item, only the Company Commercial Truck wheel was crashed by another vehicle and we must replace the Company Commercial Truck, to continue the delivery. For any type of inquires, You are simply reply to this message or go on Live Chat and talk with a representative."

That's when I started digging into this further. I tried their customer service line but could never get a person. I tried their live chat which is not enabled. I emailed the Craigslist seller Nathan and he responded reassuring me this is just a delay (I would expect him to be more worried about his boat). But I was given another delivery date, so I waited (although with much worry).

Delivery time came and went, and still no boat. I got another automated email, "Through this message, Pro Auto Depot wants to inform You that due to the unexpected accident from 06/08/2020 - 08:45 AM, the delivery of the Item cannot take place. According to the accident report received from our Insurance Company, the Item suffered damages and we are not allowed to deliver the Item in such conditions. Consequently, our Insurance Company has automatically started the refund process for Your transaction.

The Refund process will be initiated to the same Bank account where the money came from, and it may take from 1 (one), up to 3 (three) Business Days. For more information regarding the time frame required to receive a Bank Wire Transfer, please contact Your Bank.

Additional Info: No action is required from Your part. We offer no further assistance in this matter, only if You would like to have the funds refunded to a different Bank account then the one used to transfer us the funds.

Note: We recommend You to be patient and wait for the funds to reach Your account as this process involves multiple procedures that are not in our power (i.e. files to be prepared and transferred between departments, etc.).

I did another search on ScamPulse.com and found the scam tracker. Under the pro auto depot name I found 3 instances, all with horrifying similarities. Worse yet, Nathan Green is shown as one of the company founders! Also, the craigslist listing has now expired.

Stay away from Pro Auto Depot. I really hope someone can get these guys. This one hurt! Oh yeah, and I bought this on my 40th birthday!

I've been searching our local craigslist listings for a compact tractor and came across a posting for one that matched very well what I was looking for, and within the price range of my budget. The seller was asking $14,400 for it. So I contacted them through craigslist, but it wasn't until 10 days later that I received a reply. The email was apologetic, saying the CL emails had gone to their spam folder and that when they tried to send me a response their reply was returned. They asked if I would send them my direct email so they could send me some pics and additional information about the tractor. That was fine with me (at the time).

The person then emailed me to let me know that they were selling the tractor through proautodepot.com. This was part of their email:

"The tractor can be seen at the local PAD warehouse (I suppose you know Pro Auto Depot). All their contact options (phone numbers, addresses, live chat, office locations), are available on the website, to the Contact Us section. Just provide them my name as seller and they will provide further information."

They also mentioned that one of the perks to listing it through Pro Auto Depot was that he received a gift voucher from them which provided free shipping of the tractor up to 500 miles. Since I fell well within that distance, I wouldn't have to pay any shipping. Looking back on it now, all this was too good to be true.

I had several questions for Pro Auto Depot but each time I called, it was an automated answering service and I could never get through to a live person. Their claim was that because of covid-19 their staff was extremely busy and could only address calls for registered buyers. But as their website states, to be a "registered buyer" you need to have an agreement in place with the seller. But I wasn't going to enter into an agreement with the seller if I still had questions on how the company worked out the sales. I also tried emailing them but I received what seemed like automated replies as well. They claimed that they have an online chat on their site, but it's not enabled. These 3 things (customer service through phone, email, and non-working chat) were my initial red flags.

So I started investigating the addresses for the locations that were listed on proautodepot.com within the US. Looking them up on maps.google.com, google did not show ANY indication that such a company existed at any of the 3 locations. Their NY address actually shows up as a large condominium highrise in NYC.

Another red flag (not initially... though it should have been) are the forms of payment which Pro Auto Depot takes: 1. Bank wire transfer, 2) Paypal, and 3) Credit card or debit card. With a caveat: paypal and credit cards are ONLY accepted for sales under $1,999.00. So the tractor purchase would have HAD to be through a bank wire transfer. I've purchased a vehicle before through an online 3rd party and I know that for the safety of the buyer there is a type of escrow account. Bank wire transfer sounded very risky, and doing an online search for "bank wire transfer scams" definitely raised that red flag I had quite a big higher!!

So at that point I stopped all further communication with the scammer. Today I came across this ScamPulse.com Scam Tracker site and noticed that (at least) 3 other people besides myself were contacted by this particular scammer, and one person seems to have lost a considerable amount of money. I hope this scammer is caught before anyone else is hurt.

I found a boat on craigslist for sale. I spoke with the owner via emails, [email protected], through more than 20 emails. He informed me that the sale would go through the company Pro Auto Depot for the financial transaction. I looked at the company website, proautodepot.com, and everything seemed legit. I spoke with a rep at pro auto depot, who called me back after I left a voice mail. He instructed me on how to complete the transaction. I registered on the website and started the process. I did a title search on the boat and trailer and nothing came out out of sorts. I received payment information by email from Pro Auto Depot payment center. I instructed my bank to complete the wire transfer to the Chase bank account. I could log into the website to check the transaction. The boat was in Buffalo,NY at a storage facility. I did not travel to see the boat in person. All pictures were online. According to the Pro Auto Depot website and the person, Christopher, I spoke with, I had a 7 day money back guarantee, after I took possession of the boat. I received through emails, a bill of sale and conformation. I was able to and are still able to log into the Pro Auto Depot website to see my transaction status. The boat was supposed to be delivered on 5/27/20 by 5pm, but I received an update on the Pro Auto Depot on the transaction page that the truck was involved in a minor accident with a car hitting the tire of the truck. I was informed that the truck needed to be fixed and that my boat would arrive on 5/28/20 by 5pm. ON 5/28/20 around 3:15 pm I was informed, via the website transaction status that, Pro Auto Depot wants to inform me that due to the unexpected accident from 5/27/2020-8:45 am, the delivery of the item cannot take place. According to the accident report received from their insurance company, the item suffered damages and they are not allowed to deliver the item in such conditions. Consequently, their insurance company has automatically started the refund process for my transaction." It also states that the refund process will be initiated to the same bank account where my money came from, and would take from 1 to 3 business days. On June 1st, updated on the transaction status, it states the refund of the funds has been initiated on June, 1 2020, 9am, and that I should receive it in my account by June 3, 2020 3pm. ON June 3rd, the transaction status was changed to read that the money would be received into my account by June 4th, 2020 5pm. On June 4th, the Transaction status, was changed to it should reach my account within the next 5 business days. I have been in touch with my credit union all along the way. They kept saying that I don't need to start a fraud investigation yet as they are still in correspondence with me. A member from the fraud department contacted me today, June 4th, after I did not receive the money. I gave her all the information. She contacted the Chase Bank did a return request for the funds, but was informed by the Chase bank that they are no funds in the account. The TFCU fraud department rep then informed me that I need to file a police report, contact victims of internet crime to file a complaint, and possibly contact the FBI. The boat is currently still listed on Craigslist and I am still able to log into the Pro Auto Depot website to check transaction status. I have left numerious phone messages, live support requests, and call back requests on the website; but no one returned my requests. I was able to get a person through live chat on the website, but he would give me no information other than to wait for the funds. He kept saying that it's the banks not them. He would not contact me via phone, nor give me any information regarding the insurance carrier for the transport and accident. He said that the report was not finalized yet.

I was apparently scammed almost identical to this one, only I was buying a mini-excavator. The seller used name of Jeffrey Wright @ hatch group.org and the bank was also Chase Bank in New York City.

This is the most legitimate "Looking" business I have seen, I answered a craiglist ad for a boat ,seemed like a good deal not too good but enticing, Afterreading review on this page I did more research and came to the conclusion it indeed is a scam. They were pressuring me to complete transaction or would charge me for loading and unloading the boat on a flatbed for shipping. Well a boat on a trailer does not need to be loaded on a flatbed. I said I wanted to come to wharehouse to inspect and they said it was unavailable to see because it was prepped for shipping. The phantom seller name was Nathan Greene Almost got me for 20k stay away this is a scam not real like it seems.
